I know that this past year Delta had some problems and seem OK now, as far as I can tell. I need to book flights for our February trip within the next month and I'm wondering if there are any airlines to avoid right now?? All the prices seem really high for February (Boston - Orlando).

Thanks in advance! :)

we booked through Delta for Feb about 3 mths ago ..... So far so good they have only changed our flight plans once. :rolleyes1

Hmm. Lately, all the airlines have had there share of troubles. Im pretty certain that NWA will be ok. As a general rule of thumb, ive tried to stay away from the value carriers (SWA and JetBlue are the exceptions) as theyve seemed to be unstable in the past years....

I use the authorized carrier list for major travel insurers -- I figure that if they're willing to provide insurance for a certain airline, then that's good enough for me to take the risk.

Right now, this is the list of airlines that Access America feels are safe bets:

Airtran Airways
Alaska Airlines
America West
American
British Airways
Continental
Frontier Airlines
Jetblue Airways Corporation
Midwest Express Airlines
MN Airlines d/b/a Sun Country Airlines
Nippon Air
Qantas Airlines
Singapore Airlines
Southwest
US Airways

Thanks Bicker! I see that Delta is not on the list. Are they still in that bad of shape?? Would you personally not choose to fly on Delta if you were flying this coming February??

They are in bankruptcy, along with Northwest. You can't buy travel insurance on a carrier in bankruptcy (at least not for that coverage).

I deliberately didn't select Delta for our flights in February (maybe we'll be there the same time?), at least in part because they were not on that list.

Thanks for the info DebbieB and Bicker :) I think we'll stick with JetBlue even though they're quite a bit more expensive.

Bicker: We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge from Feb 2 - 4, then going on the Disney Wonder cruise, then we'll be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge from Feb 8 - 11. When are you going in Feb?? :)
