Booking early or rebooking on board

I have read so many posts about rebooking onboard and saving quite abit. I want to know how it compares to booking early say thru Dreams Unlimited? Is it better to book really early and get the cabin you want or wait and book onboard? I am already looking into booking in December 2005 but my first cruise isn't until December 2004. Also I am under the impression that Dreams Unlimited will periodically check to see if there is a price reduction for the cruise you book thru them. Is it really worth it to wait and if so how much of a difference are we talking?

Booking while on board gives you a $200 per cabin stateroom credit plud 10% off of the then current price. Most of the time, this is the lowest price you'll see from then to the cruise, but there are times when there will be a price reduction (especially off season.)

You can book while on board, then transfer your reservation to DU or another discount agent. The agent should then keep watching for any bigger discounts and call DCL to get the reduction for you. You will also get the rebate from DU (since the comes directly from them and not from DCL.)

One word of caution--you cannot "double dip" on discounts from DCL. That is, you can use ONE onboard credit code (like I now have the $200 onboard re-booking, even though I'm totally paying with my Disney Visa, I can't get a Disney Visa $50 onboard credit too). Another example, you can get an onboard rebooking price OR another "special" discount price, but not take 10% off the other "special" from DCL.

You CAN pick up a DCL special and a TA special, so you can get the DCL special price, stateroom onboard credit AND a TA rebate from DU or another TA.

Would wait to book on board, since it is so far away u would still get Early booking savings and then u would also get the onboard credit and if u transfer it to dreams ,, if they have a promotion going such as rebate like we got u would be entitled to that as well.... peter
