Hello,

We're looking at booking our first cruise in February 2021 once they release to general public on the 3rd.

I've noticed that of the cruises we're looking at, one of them at around the same date just released as a Canadian resident offer (25% off) in 2020. If this happens again for the cruise we end up booking for 2021, is there any negotiation possible? If not matching the resident rate outright, is there a possibility of getting onboard credit?

You would have to cancel your existing cruise, and rebook at the lower rate, hoping to get the room you chose back. And, if it is after the pay in full date, you have to also account for the loss you take on the non-refundable portion of the cruise. I have never heard of anyone being able to negotiate the price down for a refund or on board credit to spend.

Fair enough, and I realize part of booking early is the security of securing our spot instead of waiting/hoping and missing out. I had seen (via google search) someone claim they were able to, which is why I asked; but I figured this forum would be a much better gauge of whether that's something actually done.

Thanks for the quick response!

On one cruise I took in 2017, a Canadian resident rate was released before the PIF date and members of my FB group were able to apply the discount to their existing reservation. Definitely watch for offers, and definitely read the terms. Enjoy your sailing!

That's great news. I'll definitely keep an eye on the rate offers!

I booked a FL resident deal that was at least a month before the PIF date and had my eye on another that was also that far out although we didn’t book, so it definitely happens!

If you book and notice a lower fare in the future that IS NOT a special rate for (military, Florida, Canada residents) you can ask Disney for the price difference. I think you will find that it rarely happens like that. Other posters have talked about how it works with the special rates.
