We're thinking of October next year for our WDW trip and want to stay in one of the moderate WDW resorts (can't decide which one yet)!!! I've had a quote from the Disney website for £1,120 for 14 nights in October 05 which seems alot cheaper than all the brochures I've looked through. I thought I might try to find a cheap fly drive deal and book direct with Disney.

Has anyone else done this?? Is it quite straightforward??

Catherine,

I haven't done this, but it's probably worth getting a quote from Dreams Unlimited (the DIS travel agency) by way of comparison. If you ask, they will keep checking for discounts even after you've booked.

Hi Catherine,

I did just this last week ! I booked 15 nights at Pop Century direct with Disney for November 26th this year for the incredibly cheap £690 (+ flights). Cheapest flights for November was Icelandair at £320 inc tax return from Glasgow to Orlando (I'm in central Scotland). I've gone the extra thought and booked BA from Glasgow - Gatwick - Orlando.

Well worth it in my opinion as in the past Ive often seen Disney Value resorts for £1100 per person as part of a package....

Good luck !

Colin

We've booked with Disney direct a few times and they've always been very helpful and very competative.
A few years ago we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter which was really nice, smaller than all the others and with theming absolutely spot on for New Orleans. :) It also has a great pool.

Hi

We booked it directly through Disney.co.uk and we found it to be alot cheaper. We managed to book the flights two weeks before departure and got a great deal. BA are doing cheap flights in November and have come up similar amount as to MY Travel. We are booking a 1 week break to All Star Disney Movies and flighing with BA this time round.

I have heard Carribbean Beach Resort is great moderate hotel and Port Orleans.

Whatever you choose have a great time!

Another vote here for DreamsUnlimited :)

They book your room and then apply any discounts that become available. You are assigned your very own agent, who can also book all your PS's for you - all free of charge :)

The service offered by DreamsUnlimited is great, but if you have the time it is great fun "doing it yourself".
Our last trip, a week or so before paying the balance we spotted details of a discount code (on mousesavers.com, I think) so we phoned Disney and they happily applied it to our booking. As the stay was for 17 days the saving was over $750.00 I'd definately book direct again.

You could always check for AP rates for the hotel nearer the time. If you get a good AP rate then buy the AP over the phone, before you go. You don't have to buy the AP before you find the cheap rate, they only need it when you check in.
