Booking at a WDW resort (non-DVC) -- timing

I called last month to try to book a stay at the Polynesian (I know, I know...not the best use of points but something we've always wanted to do) for September 2009 and was told that I couldn't do that until the 7 month date.

At the time, I was surprised, but figured it was just something I'd missed along the way. I knew about the rule of 4, but assumed that I could book these resorts further out since I'm paying $95 for the privilege.

Was the MS CM right? Can I only book the non-DVC WDW resorts at the 7 month date?

You should be able to book from 11 month to 2 days in advance for the WDW resort hotels that are part of the Disney Collection.

ARRGH. Why in the world would the CM not let me do it then?!!! Going to call right now and hope I get someone more knowledgeable.

You weren't trying to use developers' points were you? That's the only reason I can think of that would prevent you from booking until the 7 month mark.
