Booking all before the flights?????

I hope I am doing the right thing.Situation is-We want to do 4 night DLC in cat 12 (hoping for upgrade as so few cat 12 and it will be out wedding anniversary-if not no problem) and the price is about £820 at the moment and magical travel are giving $150 onboard credit(got recommended from US board)Then a fellow DIS member is renting us some dvc points which we will have to book asap as we are going december with the run up to christmas.Although last year I was checking all of december for flight availibility and there were still seats availible on 90% of the flights(in economy) I am concerned that there may be a sudden rush this year and there are no seats left when I have spent all this money on booking the cruise and DVC etc.BA have quoted £1081 for 2 adults and a child but I wanted to wait for virgins prices.What would you do?

Flydrive prices are crazy, we have booked flights/hotel flying Xmas day, £580 each.
Flydrive (just flight without car) £741 each

Yes I have checked VH flydrive and they are rather steep compared with what we usually pay.Like I said earlier last year the dearest price I found was £429 without miles+money.I have rechecked BA tday and they are now £1159.I am sure virgin will be cheaper when they release the m+m.Its just whether I book the cruise this weekend or not!

We flew with Virgin 25 Nov and came back 14 Dec - there were loads of seats empty, we booked at the end of Jan.
We`re in a similar situation as you with our sept hol. cruise booked but no flights as yet, the price is too high, we`ll wait and see how the prices go.

We've booked our accomadation at the wilderness lodge with Disney and haven't got the flights yet, mainly because i phoned several travel agents when looking around and they were already sold out of their allocation at the hotel. The flights we want arent released yet so we will get them as soon as their released for xmas.

At least cruise is 100% money back if you have to cancel but you will find flights

I don't think you should have too much of a problem and you could also consider flying on an indirect flight. We did it a couple of years back, flying with United and changing in Washington (IAD). It wasn't that much of an inconvenience really and it worked out cheaper.

Thanks guys I know I can rely on you. DH is driving me mad to book it incase they run out of the cat 12 rooms .He wanted an ocean view but after reading how so many people get upgraded I thought I would book the cheapest as don't intend to spend much time in the room,and if we get upgraded it will be a bonus-don't tend to have much luck with things that are given away though If a bomb had got a house to land on in a street it would be ours

We were upgraded on our 1st cruise, never since. We used the veradah for abour 10 mins in 4 days, we now know inside cabins are great for us. outside a waste of money. We do try get SPR cat 10 pay inside price and get outside, they are very good value.
