As our trip to AKL next year is looking shaky (we dont think 5 of us in one room is going to be viable) DH has suggested we book a short stay at one of the deluxe resorts during our 3 week Xmas visit. I will have an AP, but am I right in thinking that there are unlikely to be any discounts over Christmas? The earliest we can probably book it is the 13th ish. We do arrive on the 9th, but need to get settled at the Villa first. Anyone know if discounts are likely then?

If I call CRO now and book, is it right I can apply any codes that come out nearer the time? If so, how do I do that?

Has anyone used Concierge, and is it worth it? Do the Concierge services vary from resort to resort? My two contenders are the GF or Y&B.

Thanks!
Allie

You could try using DreamsUnlimited to book your room - they will constantly check for any discount codes that become available and then apply them automatically :)

Your personal agent will also book any PS's as well :)

Another thumbs up for asking DU to handle your booking.

Not only will they explain any discounts that may / may not be applicable nearer the time, but will also automatically check for them and apply them to your booking if available.

Sorry, I've never been in a position to compare concierge services at any of the deluxes ;)

Hi Allie,

I would say your chances of getting a discount are good - last year AP discounts went for check ins up until Boxing Day!

Whether or not this will still be the case with better park attendence but looking at the last few years' worth of discounts it seems there are nearly always AP rates available until at least 19th December.

:) :)

Thanks guys.

Been onto Dreams Unlimited (very helpful, thanks for the recommendation) and they have done me some quotes that are already quite competitive (with no discounts out for December yet). Just waiting to see how much a concierge room will be....;) . Well....it will be Christmas!!

Oooooh, Concierge is expensive isnt it???

Standard room (before any discounts) a fairly reasonable $377 (£210) per night.

Concierge room....$1007 per night

Methinks a standard room will suffice ;)

Someone on the DIBB said they got the Poly concierge for $50 extra a night...maybe you can get upgrades on the cheap when you get there? I think I would be a little embarrassed bargaining at the GF though!!

EMERGENCY EDIT....BUT WAIT!!!

Ive got it wrong! Dream Unlimited have just mailed me back to say the $1000 was for 2 nights not one!! Hahahahaaha! AND there will almost certainly be AP discounts applied to it as well!! I feel a booking coming on here......:bounce:

LOL, have just read your edited post...and I can feel your booking coming on too ...!!!!!! It would be churlish not to ;)

Is there anyone who does the same booknig stuff for Universal hotels as Dreams inlimited do for Disney? does anyone know the ballpark figure for a family room at RPR in july per night?

sounds good Allie, I couldn't believe your first post about it being over $1000  especially as we got a concierge room at the Contemporary for September for $602 per night! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Poet, if you want to see how much it'd cost you at RPR, go to the universalstudiosflorida.com website and click on the hotels bit, you can actually check availability and this gives you the price - that's what we kept doing for the HRH, altho we're not staying there now, we're spending an extra 2 nights at Pop Century instead. Hope this helps.
