Has anybody booked a room at the GC using travelocity or a similar site? If so, what sort of view did you get?

I've called Disney and the GC is sold out for the dates we need. Travelocity has rooms described as standard rooms. The view is not mentioned but I assume they'd be parking lot view.

We stayed at the GC in November and had the theme park view which we loved. I wouldn't mind a parking lot view but would prefer another.

Thank you.

I have used Expedia to book Disneyland Hotel (and gotten better rates than even my AP could provide).

I called the hotel directly a few days later and made a room request. We gor the building we wanted, but our view was parking lot. They would have given us a waterfall view if we were willing to switch buildings. They were clearly willing to work with us.

Travelocity gives the better long range rates, Expedia gives the better last minute rates.

I'm curious, is this how most people book Disneyland hotels; through Traveocity and Expedia or does anyone book directly?

I want to book 2 nights for next April but Disneyland isn't booking that far out yet:( so I have time to firgure out the best and cheapest way to book the GC.

I booked the GCH last August directly for a couple of reasons. One, I was able to request a particular view. In fact, looking over the GCH floorplan, I was able to request a floor and range of rooms (one of which we got) thanks to a very helpful person at hotel reservations.

There was no guarantee that we would get our request, but we did. This is something you can't easily do with a last minute reservation or even the trips booked through AAA or WDTC (which aren't assigned to a room until about a week before your arrival).

The second reason we did this was so we could use our AAA discount of 10% off of the room price. We wanted a "Pool View" room, and the only way we could get that through AAA or WDTC was by selecting the "Theme Park View" and hope we were on the pool side of the hotel.

The "Pool View" room is cheaper than the "Theme Park View" room, even before the 10% discount. By doing that and ordering the tickets separately, I figured we saved over 25% vs. the "Theme Park View" package through AAA or WDTC.
