Booking a package and getting AP rate

If I wanted to book a package that included the dining plan, but also wanted to apply the AP discount to my room rate, what would be the best way to do it? Could I buy 1 1-day base MYW ticket which would be upgraded to the AP and 10-day MYW hopper tickets for the rest of my group all on the same package? Also, if i was planning on upgrading that MYW ticket to an AP, would I have to do it before checking into the hotel? Where could I do this if I was using Magical Express that would be the most convenient?

Sorry but you can't book a package and have an AP room discount also - you can't "stack" discounts.

The AP discounts are "room-only" discounts (not packages since you wouldn't need tickets as an AP holder), and so for the dining portion some AP holders purchase the DDE (Disney Dining Experience) card to save $$$ on dining. Here's a link to the DDE info for AP holders at allearsnet:

If you want the free dining special you'll have to book a MYW package plus tickets and pay the rack rate for the room If you are going before or after the free dining expires and want to add the paid dining to your package ($38.99 adult/$10.99 child), you can keep watching for a package special to come out (hopefully) for your dates to be able to save on your room.
Just can't use an AP room only code and get a package too!

As stated above you can't use your ap room only discount when booking a package.

Dining must be added to packages (can not be added to a room only) prior to check in. What exactly prior means has been told different several times on here ranging from 3-6 days. At 6 days prior if you decide you want to change a room only to a package, you may not have much luck. Room only's cant be made into packages they must be cancelled and rebooked as a package - best bet is to book what you need to begin with.

Yes you can meet the ticket requirement by purchasing 1 day myw tickets, but you must do it for everyone in your party. Then they can each be upgraded as needed when you get there.

I **think** from reading prior posts, you can check in without your ap but if you dont check back with them and show them you obtained the ap that day, your room rate reverts to full rack rate.
