Hi,
I have a question of something I've never dealt with before.
Friends of ours are going to WDW for his 50th birthday.
They are staying at the All Star Movies for a week.
They have already booked the room and their flights
before telling us. So their dates are fixed.
As a gift I am booking them into the WLV for 2 or 3 nights with our DVC points, during that stay. To give them a room they normally couldn't afford.
(ideally I would have added the 2 nights to the end of their trip to
give them a couple of extra days but they booked before I could)

My question is, since they won't be staying in the All Stars for 2 or 3 nights, should they do anything specific so they don't accidently get checked out?
Because they will need to return for a night or two before their trip is over.

Should they tell All Stars they will not be there for those nights?
Should they just leave some luggage there?
Should they leave a note for the maid so they don't check them out by accident?
(don't really want to advertise they will be gone from the room for 3 days but don't want them checked out either.)

Are they locked into a package where they absolutely cannot reduce the number of nights to less than a week ? because it probably would be easier all around if they can cancel the nights you will cover, not to mention they'd be paying for room at AS they are not even staying in.

Maybe you can discuss this wonderful :goodvibes surprise you want to plan with the 'non-birthday guest' ? without specifically telling what DVC you plan to book for them it can still be somewhat of a surprise for that non-bday person too. Then you could find out for sure if it is possible for them to cancel the last 2 -3 nights on their All Star reservation so you can substitute the DVC room.

Beyond this, you do raise a good question about whether it is necessary to notify someone at AS resort ( I'm thinking desk manager or housekeeping manager or perhaps both ? ) so they realize these guests have not vacated & will, in fact, return to utilize the remaining days on their reservation - -
I know as far as housekeeping is concerned you can notify housekeeping supervisor that you do not want daily service on particular days. But what I'd be wondering most about is if your friend's card isn't utilized to open the door each day does that card become inactivated after a certain period of time has elapsed :confused3 even though they still haven't reached their check-out date ?

Maybe others here who've done something similar can tell you for sure.

Best wishes & how great of you to share some magic with your friends !!pixiedust:

yes they are booked on a package.
Buy 4 get 3 free.
It's Sat. to Saturday.
So they can't reduce the days...
I only have enough points for weekday nights so it can't be the first couple of nights or last couple.
Their flight is locked in to leave on sat or leaving early isn't an option either.
And both already know.

Notify housekeeping and front desk is one option,
Do not disturb sign is another.
Thanks
