Booking 11 months out 8:00 EST

I love to stretch my points into as many trips as possible, hence why we try to stay in the value studios or the OKW studios. BUT, I've been toying around with the idea of less trips and using the value two bedroom instead. I for sure will, if we can't go on the three trips I have planned this year due to covid travel restrictions. I will have so many points to use up.

Good luck today!!!

So I used the atomic clock. I had it all up and ready to go. As soon as it turned to 8:00, I clicked the button. I got the message that it doesn't open up until 8:00 EST, but it clearly was that time.... refresh quickly, GONE.
Tomorrow I try again, but I wait 1 sec extra maybe.

I’m having similar thought process. Originally was planning to do get studios for 2 to 3 trips with around 25 days in park. With recent cost increases in annual pass and the genie plus/paid access being added I ’m leaning towards single trip in 2br (resort only if I can convince family). I’d calculate this means these changes will save me spending a $3 to $5k in dining and tickets this year. Hopefully Disney gets their $15 to make up for it though.

Maybe refresh 2-3 sec before, I don't know:confused3
Your positive attitude is so refreshing:)

I'm also shifting from the mindset of more nights to more space starting in late 2022, but it's because my kids are getting older. They have more activities that keep us around home, and they're more independent. Our APs don't expire until July 2022, but I'm not sure if I'll renew then or buy regular tickets.

I don’t seem to get good results if I wait at screen and then move forward exactly at 8. What I have done well with is refreshing the search few seconds before 8 to time it so search completes after 8 and then proceed to book. I’ve had had much more success this way which makes me think searching refreshes something to prevent error of “too early” even after 8.

It seems as though search time plays into the lock out but I’ve never tried it with easy to get room to confirm it also locked out there.

That's what I was thinking too. We will test this out.

I had it all timed to try out the refresh right before 8:00 and book. It takes my computer 4 seconds to refresh the page. I practiced a few times. I'm ready. I refresh at 7:59:54. It pops up perfectly at 8:00, and it's already booked. It could be that there was only one room available, and their computer was faster by a microsecond, but I have hope that this system will work potentially.

Ooh! I really hope you got it this morning!! When I looked for the value 2-bed, only the value 1-bed was left… so, someone got that value studio 😏

This morning I didn't even try. I had to work, but when I checked before work, it appeared it was already gone, so I wasn't too worried about missing today.

That’s too bad, but I totally understand. I didn’t try for several mornings bc I have been sick 🤦🏻‍♀️

(& obviously when you know there’s no point in trying, it’s totally different too 😉)

You were probably picking up that those days behind me... but now I'm done, and booked 8/15-19! May the odds be ever in your favor!

My DD & I are meeting up with family for a few days, before my DH & DS join us to go on the Wish! Figured there was no sense in a regular studio just for the 2 of us if I could score a value.

I've got a value studio booked overlapping some of your dates. Looks like the value units really are popular.

For those following along, I saw today's new day was open before 8:00 so I got myself ready. Today I had the computer all set up so that rather than refresh, I would just click the modify at 8:00 with my atomic clock. I did and it was still too early. I got the message that booking didn't open until 8:00, so I refreshed and the date was gone of course.
The sad thing is, I'm now 3 days behind with my walking behind the front of the line walkers. I have hope that I will be able to pick them up or start a new walk but this is the first time I've been that far behind.
As I've said before, I'm good with the dates we are currently sitting on, but would prefer end of August, beginning of September. As Canadians, it's a great time to go, less swelteringly hot and less busy as many USA schools are already back in session. In Canada, most schools start the Tuesday after Labour Day.

Just as I completed the post above, I went back and checked to modify again, and magically the next date I needed popped up available. So now I'm only 2 days behind, which isn't a big deal.
I always look at rooms in terms of dollar value. A 7 night reservation is only 69 points. My cost per point is $10.50 rough calculation. So that is $724.50 for that stay, or $103.50 per night. That's way cheaper than a value resort stay and I'm staying at our favourite resort with a savannah in our backyard. That is some tremendous value right there.
