Message: After many false starts, I've just got off the phone to Premier Travel and booked a quick 9 night trip to Orlando for next Thursday (24th August) which gets me home exactly 24 hours before my knee operation.

Many thanks to Nicky at Premier who has got me Virgin flights from Gatwick when most others (including Virgin Holidays themselves!) could not get me flights on those days at all. Virgin Atlantic could get me the flights but wanted more than £300 per person more for them. She even went what sounds like more than the extra mile to get us on the VS027 (the earlier 11:15) flight out.

So - much planning to do now as it's not far away. First things first is a hotel I guess - found a very good deal on the Hilton at Downtown Disney on Expedia.co.uk which is vastly cheaper than anywhere else I've looked (including expedia.com and Hilton themselves, despite their 'low rate' guarantee!). The Downtown location works for me and I prefer it, I think, to the values and moderates on site which are a comparable price.

So probably there first and then over to one of the on-site Universal hotels for the last few days and front-of-line access.

Will get a car at some point, but will book *********** for the airport pick-up as it will give me a chance to break my record for the consumption of mini bottles of red on the way over.

Can't wait!

Darren

Enjoy it Darren :cool1: hope u get a decent deal on the universal onsite :thumbsup2

Great news!! Nothing like leaving it till that last minute!!

Buggar - didn't book the Hilton, which was showing at £40 per room per night (£57 per night for Tower room including concierge, breakfast and snacks) and it's not showing today. Price considerably more than that (over £100 per night) on Hilton direct now.

I'm happy again now - just booked Port Orleans Riverside instead after spending a long time trying to decide between all the moderates.

Got what seems to be a good rate of about £60 per night.

Still lots to sort out - hotel for remaining nights in Orlando, hotel and parking at Gatwick, car hire, park tickets and ADRs...

Did you book Port orleans direct with Disney? Or ?

Thanks

I think I just Googled and got to a site called disneyvacationguide.com.

I think there was a Disney code running until yesterday for $40 off moderates so I'm assuming they were applying this rate to get to $99 a night. Bumped up a little bit from there with taxes etc.

Just checked again now and they're showing a rate of $155/$139 (the period spans two Disney rate periods) a night now for a standard room which seems to confirm I got the good deal by getting in yesterday.

That said, they're showing water view rooms at $114 for the same period?!?

Thats a good rate Darren for POR, I'd def try and get some ADR's though with free dining on the go u can bet those restaurants will be busy
