It's our 10th wedding anniversary, and we honeymooned at the Poly. We're doing a split stay at the GF RPC and the Poly. Can you help me pick a great and QUIET room in LVC? Want a good view of the castle for the kids and quiet. The 2nd floor has no balcony? So should I ask for the 3rd floor?

Thanks so much!

We've stayed LVC >15 times and on our 10th anniversary as well and I believe you can choose your floor if available(3 times for us it wasn't). Don't forget that the 3rd floor is smoking optional. We've had smoker's next to us about 30% of the time. Happy anniversary and have a wonderful trip. Threehearts

We stayed in 3508 (3rd floor) with a fantastic view. We were in a non-smoking room and never noticed any smoke down the hall.

you can choose your room? I just took the plunge and booked Poly LVC for Oct....just got to add on a night today too - but I didn't know you can specify the room....

We stayed LVC last year, room 3507....as D & R stated below, the view of the castle was tremendous! We also stayed non-smoking and did not notice any smoke smell. I've included a link with floorplan of the Hawaii bldg. The conceirge lounge is located on the left hand side of the building on the 2nd floor (but you can access it by a loft entrance from the third floor). You are correct that the first floor has a patio, the second floor has sliding doors without balcony and the thrid floor has a full balcony. You can request a certain floor/room but it s a request, not a guarantee. Have a wonderful time!!!

Ok, I've already heard back from the IPO Planning at the Poly with a Personal Vacation Itenerary. I'm so excited! WOOOOHOOO! This is going to be the best! (I've actually got chill bumps at the moment-LOL!)

I would not expect that if you request a room number you will get it but requesting a floor you have a better chance. Third floor is only half smoking optional.

Steve,

Thanks! Besides non-smoking, what would you request for LV room? We have triplets who will be 5 and would like a quiet room with a good view. Can you see the Castle well from the 1st floor? I have had a blast looking over your unbelievable site. Oh, and my sincere condolences about your Aunt.

Thanks!

Well I have been in a third floor room (friends were staying in it) back when it was a smoking room and it was very free of smell and I can smell smoke anywhere. Growing up with asthma makes you notice smoke anywhere. Now that some of the rooms are non-smoking and it was after they refurbished the rooms I would guess they are free of smell. Third floors are nice and have good views with a balcony but there are some rooms that are right at the level with the palm treetops. Second floors are not as bad as many seem to think. You do lose the balcony but your slider still opens up half the room to the view and you can sit at the table near the slider to enjoy the view. My favorite is the 1st floor because I like to talk out on the grass or the beach from the room and not have a railing blocking my view when sitting on the patio. Yes you can still see the castle and below is a photo shot from out patio.

There are a few rooms that are partly blocked but I would say less than 10% of the lagoon view rooms are blocked. The end farthest from the lounge have a little clearer view since there are no trees near the building but there are a few down there that the trees on the beach block part of the castle.

I have a list of all the views with room numbers but I just feel if I start posting that people are going to drive the concierge crazy with demanding a specific room number. Lets just say when you get a lagoon view room your chances of having a good view are much higher than your chances of having a blocked view.

Have a great trip.

Aloha

Thanks, Steve. I think I'll request the ground floor. My kids would love walking on the beach at night and DIGGING in the sand while watching the fireworks!

Is one end (1st and 2nd floor) more QUIET?

Thanks!

From the outside I would say no one end is not more quiet but I can not tell you what the noise is like in the hall from the far end. We have always stayed in 1505. I do know that 1501 has been reported as noisy in the hall from the elevator and the housekeeping storage area.

Thank you. Is there a set of elevators on each end of Hawaii, or just by the lounge area? That will help me word my request.

Steve-I agree. I found the 2nd floor very convenient the 2 times I stayed there.

Are you sure you want far end away from elevator? That would be far end away from the lounge. The elevator is on the GV side. I stayed in the first LV room on the 2nd floor when I was 6 months pregnant (I had requested a room close to the lounge) and I never heard any noise from the elevator or lounge. I've also stayed in a 3rd floor non-smoking room (also relatively close to the lounge end) and never had any smell of smoke. My next trip will be my first GV room.

If I were to be at the far end, is it a long walk?

Well, I've never actually walked out that end of the building. I just find it convenient to be close to the lounge to be able to quickly grab a cookie or milk or juice box for the kids. I don't know if you can get in from that end of the building as I never tried-you need to use your room key to get in as the building is secure. The lounge end is also closer to the pool but there are only 18 rooms on that side so I guess it depends on what you think a "long walk" is.

I could walk from one end of the hall to the next in not much more than a minute. Is a minute really too long of a walk? Yes you can use your room key at the far end of the building also.

Thank you for your help. I think I'll just request non-smoking, 1st floor, away from the elevator". The kids will like the patio (if we can get it).

Good idea. The other good thing about the ground floor is even if you had a partly blocked view you could just walk out to the beach with out going down to the elevator and leaving the building and walking over to the beach.

Thank you, everyone! I just emailed Jeffrey at IPO and made our request. I'm trying to get what we need without being too specific, so that we have a better chance. I don't think it'll matter where we are in Hawaii, as long as it isn't on the 3rd floor (my kids all have severe asthma).

Thanks again! Now the planning really begins!
