Booked our flights today!

Now there's no turning back. I went with airtran so I hope it's ok. Beings we've never flown before we have nothing to compare it to. I thought the prices were reasonable and I did use the $12 voucher but only once. I also booked our sets in advance. I wasn't sure if I needed to but I'm glad I did because there wasn't much left on a few of the flights. I thought it'd be worth it since non of us had flown to at least sit 1 adult/1 child.

So now, tell me everything I need to know. What other fees are going to or may come up? What are some of the things we can't bring or shouldn't bring? Help a newbie flyer out. Thanks!

They only other fee you should encounter is for your luggage. I'm not sure what the current cost per checked bag is....

It is a good thing that you paid for your seats, there have been reports of parents and children not being seated together.

Overall, we have been pretty happy with AT. They have moved our flight times a little, leaving 1/2 hour later both ways, but I made our reservations in March or April.

Did you sign up for the Airtran Rewards program? If not, you should.

Watch your flights and check to see if the times or price changes. If the time of your flights change, by even just a few minutes, you have the opportunity to request a different flight. Usually even the day before or after the original flight. If the price decreases, you can call Airtrain and ask for the refund. The refund will be put into your Airtran account.

Airtran is pretty consistent where I fly out of BWI.

There are baggages fees with Airtran.

Also, you want to check out the TSA site for what is/is not allowed in carry-ons, etc.

The checked bag fee on AirTran went up to $20.
