Booked Jack Day - any opinions?

Wow after reading these posts I am just really surprised that some brides had such a terrible time working with Rev. Jack :sad2: I'm sorry for that.

I couldn't say enough nice things about him, every part of the planning and our ceremony was perfect. I didn't get a video done (DH and I just didn't want one) so I can't comment on how he handles videography. He was so nice to me, DH, the guests, everyone! I did find out that he does not personally answer his own e-mails, though, that is done by I believe his granddaughter, so that could be the reason for some miscommunication. I am sorry some brides had a bad experience, but from our experience I wouldn't have had any other officiant. He really helped make the day special for us.

Re: the license, it never occured to me to take it and file it myself. The county clerk where we got it said the officiant would do it, so I just let Rev. Jack handle it. I figured he's done hundreds, maybe thousands, so he knows what he's doing. We got the marriage certificate in the mail one or two days after we got home from our honeymoon cruise, no problems at all.

Michelle--

FTW gave us a packet with recommended officiants & it was up to us to pick one and make arrangements with one. They do that since most people aren't familiar with any officiants in the Orlando area but we could have hired anyone we wanted.

For anyone that has chosen Rev. Day I would strongly suggest bringing your copy of the contract with you to Orlando. When I stood firm that I was only going to pay the contracted price he then let it go. Until the second time, but when we stood firm again he let it go again.

I think the reason I was especially disappointed was that I had only heard good things about him and it didn't occur to me we'd have any problems, so the trying for more money thing upset me even more since I wasn't expecting it.

Pardon me for being a newbie...I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how many choices of officiants you are given during the planning stages? Do you have to use the ones that they give you? Hearing this does make me a little nervous too.

You will get a list of officiants that have done many Disney Weddings and you can choose one of them or find your own in the Orlando area. It's up to you. :)

Also...back to Rev. Jack...he never communicated with us at all about the marriage license or what to do with it. We were very prepared! It was the way he handled the situation and handled everything during and after the ceremony. I have a major problem with rudeness at a wedding from the officiant! Very uncalled for! We have hired him for the job and are paying him...it's his job to make our day magical...not to try and control every aspect of it...and argue and fuss when he doesn't get his way!

Thanks Ladies. I know with all the stress that goes on with the wedding and all, the last thing you need is added stress from anyone else. I appreciate all your info! :thumbsup2

Just thought i would post about our experience with Rev Jack.

We booked Rev Jack for our wedding, which took place a few weeks ago. After reading this thread we were a bit worried we might have made a mistake. But we need not have worried. He was great.

He treated both my bride and myself with great respect. He was very nice and made us feel at ease. He didn't "over-direct" us about where to stand and what to do.

We followed what he said in "Jacks pack" about letting him have the marriage license & fee in an envelope and everything went smoothly. When we returned home the marriage certificate was already waiting in the post.

We are both really glad he performed our ceremony, and would highly recommend him.

so I've heard a lot about Jack Day, a few things about Tim Herring. Anybody use any of the other officiants on the DFTW list? Or someone else that is not on the Disney list? If so, what have your experiences been?? Thanks!!!

:thanks:

we used Rev. Jack and it was a great experience. He did everything we asked...was personable, friendly and just a really nice man. We really were happy with our decision.
