I am getting them lined up :rotfl2:

Next Friday we leave for our 25th Anniversary trip.
Booked New Year in Amsterdam (29th Dec-1st Jan)

Now booked 21st-Mar - 5th Apr to Atlanta, we were going to wait but got Kayak alert to say prices had dropped and I couldn't resist, £370pp with USairways. Now they have merged with AA I can claim AA miles which are worth around £50pp against a hotel booking. So flight really costing £320ish.

Need to plan things around Atlanta. Anyone any ideas? we will goto New Orleans, Graceland, visit friends in North Carolina, anything else within 6-8hour drive of Atlanta? Time to research something new:goodvibes

Hi there

A few years ago we flew into Knoxville, spent a few days in the smoky mountains, before driving down to the gulf coast with a couple of days in Atlanta.

I can thoroughly recommend a couple of days in the smoky mountains. We spent a day touring cades cove, which takes you on a historical tour of the early settlers to America around a one way lane. You also get to see lots of wild life such as black bears.

We also spent an afternoon white water rafting at this place - smokymountainrafting.com . This was really enjoyable, and the guides made this great fun, so if you're feeling energetic, then go for it!

Feel free to contact me directly if you would like me to go into any further detail....

Cheers

Barrie

I was just looking yesterday at Atlanta - there are some fantastic direct prices. Just looked at late Sept 14 for £360pp from Man with Delta.

Very tempted for next year - mainly to take in Tomorrowworld and then head down to orlando, but it looks fab for a few days at those prices!

Thanks Barrie, that's much appreciated. Next week we set off for a 22 day trip so no time for planning next years trips yet but once we return I will be looking, Smoky Mountains will definitely be something I research.:thumbsup2

Its a while since I did a transatlantic flight sub £400, took me back to the good old days paying under £1200 for 3 of us:rotfl2:

Happy planning :thumbsup2

We went to the world of coca cola in Atlanta and stone mountain state park.

Would also recommend a visit to sun studios in Memphis.

How spooky. I've just been talking to a guy and his girlfriend who live in Knoxville here at the pool at SSR. He also mentioned the Smokey Mountains as a place well worth a visit and also said that you can visit Cherokee Indian reserves too.

Happy planning. Can't wait to hear about this trip :)

excellent, is. Matt going on all 3?

Yes, had to plan around his Uni dates. Trouble is he wants to fit in trips related to Uni also, he doesn't have enough time. Going to get him from the airport now, he lands in about 1 hour and its about 1 hour drive.
