Just booked 6 nights (Aug 27 - Sep 2) in standard room in AKL with AP discount. Was told that I can't get free dining with YMP. Can only use one discount. :sad2:

Anyway, total for myself, wife & son came to $1265 (room + tickets for wife & son) + one Annual pass. The Free dining plan would have cost $2007. I suppose if we spend a lot more than $400 for food, then I may have chosen the wrong discount. I can write off the food as business expense. So don't care how much it costs. :teeth:

I can upgrade to the Savannah room for another $106. Probably will upgrade. Which wing/section is best for Savannah view? Which is best for standard room if I stay put. Are we eligible to go on a safari?

I am also thinking of cutting short AKL stay by a couple nights and trying out another resort such as Swan/Dolphin, just to see what else is out there. My son would love Illuminations every day. It could be fun staying closer to Epcot and watch the fireworks in person.

We have always had a room on the Zebra Trail, Arusha Savanna. In my honest opinion, the rooms here have a great view.

Sorry, we have never stayed in a standard room. We feel like we would be missing too much.

You have to be a Concierge guest to go on either of the safaris.

Enjoy your stay at the Lodge.

We requested Arusha, Zebra Trail, but got Uzima Savannah, Zebra Trail I believe. We were disappointed. I agree with the above poster...Arusha, Zebra trail is best. So, if you're going to pay the extra (which I would, without a doubt), try your hardest to get the Arusha Savannah.

We just got back from 6 days in a standard at AKL and loved it. You're going to have a great trip. Even if you don't upgrade, there are so many places to view the critters around the resort that you will still see lots! :sunny:

WOW, $1265 includes your stay at AKL, Pass for your wife and son plus your annual pass!!!!!! What a bargain! Would you mind posting the breakdown?

I just got three nights at GF with the AP and it's costing $1131 just for the room.
What am I doing wrong?

I may not have been clear. It is $1265 + Annual Pass. So total would be about $1685. Minus $350 or so in Disney Visa Reward dollars and we will end up paying $1335. :teeth:

By the way, does Disney Visa ever have any special promotions on room and tickets. I haven't seen any. Not exactly impressed with the card.

Regarding the Disney Visa:
I haven't seen any deals since last year. I got the buy four get three nights free. It was $1140 for 7 nights at POR plus 2 7-day park hopper tickets! I told DH, that that was a once in a lifetime deal. We probably won't be seeing that again!

I know recently they had some deals available for DL in California.

I'm not that impressed with the card either, except for the fact that I get reward dollars!
