Hi -I have not been on these boards for a few years as the economy has taken our Disney trips out of reach lately. However, my DD team is making a trip second week of June and we are thinking we maybe able to swing it this year. It seems like a good deal, but I am thinking I may be able to find a better price because I often get incentives for like 40% off a stay or something like that.

Anyway I was wondering if any of you have ever done this type of performance trip? If you have did you use the package they were getting as a group? We usually go in September and they are going in June, but I was wondering if there will maybe be any deals coming up for June?
I need to decide by Saturday if I will be booking with the team or doing our own package and it is just so hard to figure out! I'm sure you all will have great information for me and then I can figure out which will be cheaper ! Thanks

We took several trips with my daughters cheerleading squad - I always found that it was cheaper to book on my own. I was able to get a 40% discount for the room and it worked out much cheaper than booking with the team.

Thanks ! That is what I was thinking! I am just not sure if there would be a discount offered during that time because it's more of a busy season. I never really paid much attention to trips to FL in June because I thought it would be too busy and HOT! That is why we always went in the fall ...now of course I am going in June ! LOL!:confused3

I would first ask if your DD can still participate if you book your own trip? Not sure what type of team your DD is on, but my DD last year went to Disney with her dance team to do the Dance the World event and she had to be booked through the group travel to participate. This was partly b/c there was a special costume involved.

Also consider groups will be booked and roomed together. This was important for DD to be near all her teammates. And proved to be alot of fun and convenient for all of us. The girls could hang out by the pool or in each others rooms easily between activities and was easy to round everyone up to go to the parks. If you book your own even at the same resort you may or may not end up close to your group.

We had a blast with our group and I'm glad we stayed with them together.

Are there any perks to the trip. Like free breakfast or waterpark passes? Make sure you are taking everything into consideration. Look back on what has historically been offered during june...I think mousesavers or allears has this listed.

When my son did his band trip a few years ago, we booked him with the band stuff and the rest of us did our own thing.

I was able to save more money that way. Plus we stayed an extra couple of days (we picked him up after the band stuff was done).

I was going to suggest this...

Book your DD through the team and book your family on your own. That's what I would do so she can participate with her team and you guys can tag along at a better price!

We are going in March with my daughters band they are taking a bus and we are booking her with the school and the rest of us will drive and book our own. I am pretty sure she has to go with the band and book through them to be able to go. They are not staying onsite but know just with what they are doing that we will save money doing it on our own.

For ds's baseball tournament, we booked through the team. The families were all assigned rooms next to each other. Also included in our package price was admission to the ball games and Mears transportation to the games. I believe admission to the Milk House was included in the cheering package. I'm not sure what if that would make a difference but it's something else you would have to pay out of pocket for that you might not have thought about.
