Song just dropped their fares on for our dates (8/31-9/16), but SW hasn't opened the back end dates yet. Song is only $10 more expensive per person than the current SW fare would be ($163 instead of 153). both are non-stop hartdord to MCO. we've only flown SW, but the tv's on song are really tempting, and i think they would help my flying fear (my dad's a fireman in NY, so every time someone walks to the front bathroom, I get a little freaked. i know nothing's gonna happen, but i still get the "i really don't wanna hafta tackle you" feeling even if its a 75 year old granny)
there's no guarentee that SW would be even cheaper, but there is always the shot of a $49 sale.
I'm stuck!!! what should we do!!!!

I faced the same dilemma. I'm also flying from hartford in May. i booked with Song and later found out the rates dropped $60 and was able to get a $35 credit with a $25 change fee. Then SW offered the $49/fare. I wished I had waited just two days later but it's anyone's guess what can happen with fares. Although fuel prices are on the rise. The likelihood of fares going up is certain.

In a way I don't feel too bad. After all, I have assigned seats. We flew SW last year and it was fine except for no assigned seats and we had to shift our return day one day later. If you book with them and there is a drop, you can get the credit with no charge added. So, if I were you, I would go ahead and book the trip. Either way go and enjoy your trip! :flower:

The way I figure it, I have to be happy with the fare I BOOKED and try not to get too upset if SW goes quite a bit lower. The same thing happened with me for our upcoming May trip - We booked Song and got the exact times we wanted(gotta love that 7:00AM flight down). We did end up getting a $29 credit when Song's fares dropped and I've seen SW's fares lower still, but my DH can't stand SW for the cattle call boarding style. It's worth the extra $50 to keep him happy, plus the TV's are just great!

Plus, now I've got that $29 credit to use towards another trip, but I'll try to book that when fares drop pretty low for a spur of the moment trip.

:rotfl: And I thought I was the only one...I'm also steeped in anxiety...STILL :confused3 , but to answer your queestions, book now, my husband, he is a wiz, really bleivesthat since gas rices will and are rising airlines will too and the $49 SW fares will be gone, even thought they exst now... I hope he is wrong, .. but Iwoudl book thru Song to be safe... the TV would be worth it to help with your anxiety :bitelip:

There is that old saying: "A bird in the hand....." I would just book Song, and be happy that I got a good deal on airfare. Especially where you say the Song fare is only $10 more than the cheapest SWA flight. That's not worth the stress and aggravation in my book!

Have a great vacation! :Pinkbounc

At $163, your fare is $69 each way plus taxes. The taxes are a constant, so your $49 each way fare would only save you $20 each way. If you want to play the SW wait game, make sure you check the Song seatmaps regularly to see how full the planes are getting. Once the plance reach certain capacity factors (30%, 50%, 80%), the cheaper fares disappear permanently. You could end up in a real pickle if the SW cheapies don;t come through and Song raises the prices. Plus, the Song planes offer real food if you're hungry and 24 channels of TV plus 24 channels of music. Lots to keep you busy enroute plus an assigned seat to boot.

the Song fare I was debating just dropped to the same price as SW would be regulalrly. Hellloooooooo Tv's on the plane!!!
now i just hafta wait for the bride to come home so we can figure out the time and book. :)
