Book Restricted Room Now or Wait a Year?

Yes, I’m a teacher so I have to vacation during breaks. Thanks for tip on fare tracker.
I think having to vacation during breaks is going to make that budget impossible. My son's winter break is the week AFTER president's week and that is the time we went in 2018 and are going in 2020 - 5B was $4465 and looks like it was about 20% more the following week with the holiday opening day. Now the prices are pretty close because the holiday week sailing didn't go up and looks actually LESS booked - there is still a primo 7A location available.

Maybe if you can book more last minute you will be able to get a great rate on that one because it honestly looks like no one is booking it... they do release better rates closer to the sailing date to fill ships.

Others may disagree with me, but think Disney should give teachers a discount(like they do for military and Florida residents). Teachers are restricted to when they can cruise and the time they can is the most expensive times. If we had to go in the summer or holiday breaks we wouldn't be able to afford it. I hope you find a cruise that works for you.

I’ve been wanting to take my family of 4 on our first DCL. My DD 6 and DS 8. We are very likely 1 and done. I came across 7 Night on the Wonder in our price range but it’s restricted meaning we must pay in full, no refund, and no room choice.

Should I book this or wait a year and book a 7 day on the fantasy which would include castaway cay (wonder cruise doesn’t). I’d wait until the next release and hope I could snag one in my budget.

Thoughts?
For a one and done cruise, I would definitely pick one that included Castaway Cay.

We are trying to work around school schedules now too. The very beginning of summer and very end of summer seem to be the best price wise for us. If you think you'll do two cruises in the next few years, go on the Wonder (start small) and Fantasy in 18-24 months. $2000 is a big savings! DCL has released some early discounted cruises! You will love whichever cruise you choose!
