Book Delta or wait for SWA to go down

I can't decide if I should book Delta right now from Hartford to Orlando end of June for around $236.00 a ticket or wait for SWA to go down. Right now SWA is around $330.00 a ticket.
Delta was much higher and then dropped when SWA opened their dates, will Delta drop again?
What do you think I should do???
Is Delta going bankrupt, and what would happen if they did?? Thought I heard that in the news?

I'm in the same boat you are. I am going to wait till the end of feb. If SWA don't come down by then i'm going with delta!

We go to Orlando from Manchester flying SWA almost every August and I have never paid more than $150.00 RT. They always have a summer sale and I myself will wait patiently. I know it's hard, but I know they will have something lower than what is posted right now. Also now they have "Ding". Last year I used that and got a great price. Good luck, but I say wait.

Same boat here, except we're flying Hartford-Orlando-Hartford in mid to late August. Checked out both Delta and Southwest and prices are similar to yours. We're going to wait it out at least another month. Was not impressed at all with SW's initial price offerings (I read how others bought at $59-$79 when 1st opened up, but that was not the case with our dates at Bradley).:surfweb:

After much thought DH and I have decided to wait until March 1 and then probably go ahead with SW. I'm disappointed in SW but I don't trust Delta. JMHO

I, personally, would rather fly Delta. I was all set to buy the tickets this weekend, but DH wanted me to wait until Thursday so that it would be on next month's credit card. Well, lo and behold, Delta went up $5 yesterday and another $30 today! I don't know if I should go ahead & buy or hope that it drops a little again. I just hate to pay $1000 for tickets!

If ticket prices are substantionally the same, why would you want to fly SWA? Assuming both offered a non-stop to MCO.

I don't know when you are going, but if it 2-months out or more, I would wait. The best deals often come out 2-3 months beforehand. Also, since you are flying out of BDL, SWF (Newburgh, NY) could be a fallback airport that flies AirTran and Jetblue. Its about 1.5 hrs from Hartford, and about $200 round trip on both airlines.

Just curious, What is there NOT to trust about Delta? :confused3

In my past experience with Delta, I've had numerous flights cancelled for reasons other than weather problems. For example, the last time I flew Delta, we had a 6am flight and we learned when we arrived at the airport 1.5 hours early, that it was cancelled because the flight crew didn't have enough times b/w their scheduled flights, bumped us to a flight five hours later. No problem, stuff happens. What made me angry was that there was no way we could have known the flight was delayed because everything online and phone messages said that the flight was ontime. I was then very underwhelmed (is that a word) with their attitude about the whole thing while were at the airport.

That said, I just booked $59 flight from Delta because SW is so high. I have very, very low expectations, but I hope everything works out.

I love Delta and, knock on wood, I have never had a problem, whether it is to Fla. or HI.

Okay everyone, I've got a similar question
We are going to WDW in June- I can get Delta for $158 RT non stop from Nashville would you take it or wait for SW???

I'd take it. When we flew last year R/T from Hartford, CT on SW, we paid $59 each way (with taxes, it was probably close to your $158 R/T), and Delta never went below $225. Don't know TN's market, but we're again going to WDW this year (August) and would take $158 R/T on either airline.

What do you think are the chances of hitting another special?
