Now that you are able to book Air Tran flights through Southwest is there any way to choose your seats on the Air Tran flight or use the Southwest early bird?

There is no way to reserve your seats on an Airtran flight if booking on the Southwest site. To do that then you need to book your flight on Airtran site.

You can still pay for the early bird on the Southwest site. However, it can only purchased is the flight is operated by Southwest. Early bird isn't an option on Airtran flights.

Thank you for posting. I guess I was hoping that someone found a sneaky work around that I can use. I am not sure I trust any arline to assign us seats when there are kids involved

I think it is too early too tell how the seats are going to work. SW just rolled this out a few weeks ago. Hopefully, soon we'll start getting reports back on people's experiences.

I agree that allowing the airline to pre-assign seats can make you feel apprehensive. However, the plus side is that you save on the baggage fees. Guess you can't have it all. They do say that if you are not happy with them you can ask the gate agent to move you around. Not sure how well that will work...
