First, I can't believe that a week ago I was nervous about our new memebership with DVC and now I'm so excited and eager to go that I don't know how I'll wait until our first trip to Vero Beach in August! I'm also wondering how we'll manage to stay in Orlando overnight without going to the parks, but that's subject for another post.

Here's my question . . . or I should say DH's question. Last year our kids learned the fun of Boogie Boarding in Ocean City, Maryland. We don't want to drag boards down on the plane. Is there a place to rent them? Are they reasonabley priced to rent?

Also DH wants to know everybody's favorite picks for restuarants. I know I've seen answers to this question before, but can't seem to find it again. How do you search the board for already mentioned stuff?

We rented them on the beach when we went to VB.

Here are very recent prices:

Body Boards $7 Members, $9 Guests
Hobie Cat $45 M, $50 G (per hour)
Jet Ski $50 M, $55 G (1/2 hour)

When I was there 3 weeks ago the sea was rather rough and there were many warnings about rip tides. Just be aware of that and the lifeguards are excellent about patrolling and warning people if conditions are dangerous. A public lifeguard station is down to the left and one day the guard did suggest that anyone who was about to swim or play in the water should do so close to the station.

At other times the sea was ok and many people of all ages were having fun.

I don't know what they cost to purchase, but perhaps another option is to buy them at Walmart and give them away at teh end of your trip. We've done that with beach chairs, saved us money and I think the next recipients appreciated the jesture.

We usually fly and rent a car and a boogie board is hard to pack. We usually buy one as well as beach toys. The boogie boards only cost about $12 or $13 dollars. Then on our last day we start looking for a family we think might enjoy them. It's fun to see their faces (especially the kids) when we ask them if they would like to have them.:teeth:

We stop at Ron Jons, they were $5-$10. Only a little out of the way if trveling from Orlando.:smooth:
