Boo to YOU!! A halloween adventure!**1/7 X 2!!! DHS & MK!!**

Back again with another update!

We left off with Ryan screaming on the plane and me considering the use of a parachute!

Unfortunately the flight crew wasn’t very forthcoming as to the location of the parachutes ;)

Luckily Ryan only screamed for about 5 minutes and then was distracted by something!

Soon enough we had landed and tried to run as fast as we could off the plane so no one would give us the evil eye or anything! LOL!! Like I said in one of my replies, there was a group of older gentlemen sitting behind us that offered to buy me a drink!! They thought I could use it after that lovely episode ;)

We were soon off the plane (again, queue angels singing the Halleluiah Chorus ;) ) A little detour in the bathrooms to change from our New York weather pants to our FL weather shorts! We were soon on our way to ME.

But someone, not mentioning who, had a bit of a blonde moment! We ended up on the wrong side of the lower level of the airport! Since MCO has that ‘You can’t get there from here” thing going on we had to go back up in the escalator, walk over to the right side (side B I think, but I could be wrong) and go down again.

No biggy and we soon found ourselves at ME!

HOLY COW!!! There was what seemed like 15 million people lined up at the counter and in the various bus lines. Great! This is gonna be fun!

But I was surprised to find that they had changed the way ME works since we last used it in Jan. If you had the booklet that came with your tags you got to skip the counter. Yippee!!

We showed our booklet and headed toward the SSR ME line! We were the only ones on the line when we got on! So we waited, and waited and waited a little longer. A very nice ME CM came over and chatted with the kids, he gave them stickers and complemented their tye dye tees.

Then we waited and waited some more. Another nice CM came over and chatted for a minute about our vacation etc. Then we waited and waited and waited some more. Then the CM came back and said she had mentioned to the person in charge that we had been waiting a long time! You don't say?!

Then we waited some more. Good god people! How long will we wait here?!

Luckily the kids were all being super good! Including Ryan! DH and I tried very hard not to annoyed by the wait. At one point DH asked me how much it has cost in the past for a limo to take us to the hotel! :lmao:

Then it was finally our turn to get on a bus! :cool1:

All in all we waited 40 minutes for bus!! UGH!!

I don’t think it would have been so bad if we hadn’t seen at least 2 buses for every other resort area. We saw 3 for Wilderness Lodge/Poly/GF!!

By the time we got on the bus there was a HUGE line behind us!

But, we were off to SSR soon enough enjoying the video!!

We arrived after at SSR after 30 minutes or so and made our way to the desk. Sorry, but I didn’t take any pics in the lobby because at that point I really just wanted to get this vacation rolling in the right direction. We soon got called to the desk by a very nice CM.

Only problem was I could hardly understand a word she said! Her name tag indicated she was from Brooklyn, NY. Obviously Brooklyn was not her original point of origin. I’d venture to guess that she was originally from India but I could be wrong.

We both tried very hard to navigate around the very apparent language barrier with some success. Although, I somehow ended up with 5 “1 st visit” buttons. I’m still not sure how that happened. The only thing I can think is that I answered yes when she asked if this was our first visit and I thought she had asked something completely different. I meekly said “Ummm, this isn’t our first visit.” I felt bad that I couldn’t understand her although I was trying my very best!

No matter we were soon checked in! Our room wasn’t ready so we headed out of the lobby and then it hit me!

Holy cow! It was warm out! Very, VERY warm!! Hot actually!! Like August HOT! YIKES!

Had we somehow entered a time warp and gone from NY in Oct to FL in Aug? Maybe the plane got a little off course and we flown through the Bermuda Triangle. It shouldn’t be this hot! We expected it to be warm but not HOT!

We put on our happy, “We’re at Disney World!” faces and headed to the bus stop!

Up next, Walking right down the middle of Main Street USA and more!

**I promise the next update will have LOTS of pics!**

So, it sounds like you had quite a wait for DME! Yikes! Can't wait to hear where you ended up at SSR! Sure hope you brought the swimsuits since it was so hot!

Yay, you made it! i'm sorry it was so hot!!! Can't wait to hear about your afternoon in the MK.

You should have worn those 1st visit buttons and confused everyone with oyur knowledge of WDW as a first timer! :goodvibes I like the gentlemen's idea to buy you a drink, very considerate people! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to the MK pictures!

:lmao: I never thought of that!!! That's a great idea!!

The men behind us wher so nice! I felt so bad because Ryan screamed!

MK update coming soon!

You have had quite the travel day! Yikes! :scared1:

I'm glad though that everything worked out despite long waits, screaming child and language barriers! :goodvibes

UGHH for a 40 minute wait!!! That is just stinky!!! Especially when you watch other buses leave and you so want to get to SSR to start your vacation!!!

Can't wait to hear more about the rest of your day!!! You are finally there!

I love that you ended up with 1st Visit buttons! :lmao: I think I would have kept them too...... ;) Can't wait to hear about MK! :yay:

It wouldn't have been as bad if we hadn't seen so many other buses!!

:lmao: I never thought about it when she gave them to us! I was just so confused! :lmao:

I can't wait to hear all about your trip! The 40 min. wait for the bus, must have been awful. My last time on ME I had the same problem. After all that time on the flight you just want to go. At least your DS's screaming was only for about 5 mins. Without fail I can usually pick out the child by the airport gate that will be sitting directly behind me on trips to Disney. It will always be the one having a breakdown before they even get on the flight. :rotfl: The screaming I can deal with, it's the seat kicking that starts to wear on me after the first hour or so. I want to scream by the end of any flight.

Loved your update. I could actually feel myself ending up in the wrong terminal for ME and then waiting in line for 40 mins. OK - that is a very long wait. Bummer! I hope you at least got the front seats, so you could get out quickly! ;)

It must have felt so good to get to that warm weather. I can't wait to hear about what you did next and I'm looking forward to hearing how you liked SSR.

Thanks!

We really did just want to go! I really just wanted to be there already, not standing in the darn airport!

I was soooo happy it didn't last long! But those where some of the longest minutes of my life

Thanks!! Your so sweet! It was a terribly long wait! I'm just glad everyone was happy and there was no screaming or fighting!

I hope you at least got the front seats, so you could get out quickly! ;)

:lmao: Nope! When we finally got to the had had the stroller put under the bus we weren't the first ones on. Not to mention the kiddos have a thing about riding in the back of the bus!

It must have felt so good to get to that warm weather.

I most admit it did after we a nonexistant summer here. But, I'm really not a hot weather person!

I can't wait to hear about what you did next and I'm looking forward to hearing how you liked SSR.

New update coming soon!!

Wow that was a long wait especially as there are no seats there!

I went at the end of September and it was absolutely boiling then too, it really was like August heat as it was humid too :faint:

My goodness, after the screaming and then the bus wait I'd have been ready for a drink!

That is a long time to stand there and it certainly doesn't sound like they were short on buses. We waited a good 20 minutes on the bus but never had to stand in line. What a frustrating check in. I really hope it gets better once you hit Main Street!

It was a long wait!

For some reason the temps in FL have been running above normal for the last month or so. I just hope it doesn't switch to below normal for our trip in Jan!

:lmao: Believe me, if MK wasn't alcohol free I would have had a drink ;) Actually, if we had started off the trip in epcot me thinks I would have been a wee bit tipsy :rolleyes1

They definitely were not short on buses! Just short on buses to SSR!

Find out how the rest of the day went soon...

So after a quick bus from SSR to MK we finally felt like we were at WDW!!

DH commented to me about the bus stop at MK. Something about the way it looked, or it looking different or something to that effect. Then it occurred to me. We haven’t used the bus stop at MK since 05! During all of our trips since 05 we’ve stayed at an MK area resort. WL twice, GF once, Poly once. Then something else occurred to me. I’m very, very spoiled :rolleyes1

No matter, we were on our way through bag check and onto guest services to exchange our AP vouchers for real, actual, honest to goodness AP’s!!!

I was too excited to hold a really AP in my happy hand!! What better way to start a trip?! Now we were actual AP holders :woohoo:

The CM at the guest service counter told me that because DH and DS6, Johnny, have the same name he was going to Johnny’s middle initial on the AP so we knew whose was whose. DH heard him as well. Remember this because it will come into play later ;)

I gave everyone their AP’s and we were soon through the turnstiles and into the park!!

Ahhhhhhh!!! The magic of Disney soon filled us as we found ourselves taking that magical walk under the train station and out onto main street!!

Of course, I had to stop for the first photo of Cinderella’s Castle!

I would have loved to Walk right down the middle of Main Street and head for some wonderful disney fun but DH mentioned that he was starving and would like to head into the candy store to see if he could get a little something sweet as a snack.

DD picked out some M&M’s

Cool decorations in the Candy Shop..

DS picked out some red jelly beans, his favorite! But, DH couldn’t find anything he wanted. He really wanted some Swedish Fish, his favorite, but they didn’t have any. A CM confirmed it.

I suggested we head into the bakery to see what they had in the way of a snack.

He liked that idea and we headed that way. DH settled on a GIANT chocolate, chocolate chip muffin, I got a brownie that I swear to you was bigger than my head and Ryan got a bag of chips! YIKES! Healthy way to start a vacation!!

Starting off our snack...

One giant muffin...

DS7 being goofy...

DS2 eating his chips...

We all enjoyed our snacks and, of course, DH and I shared ours with the kids!

Before we left the bakery I took this picture for a certain dis friend :rolleyes1

Then it was off to enjoy some rides!

The kids and I had decided before the trip that Splash was on the very top of our most do list. So, we headed that way.

On the way there we stopped enjoy this…

They were making their way to the riverboat for Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee (I think that’s what it’s called.) It looks like a lot of fun! The music was fantastic and it really put us in a fun, festive kind of mood!

Then we were on our way to Splash! The standby line was 50 mins so we grabbed our 1st FP of the trip! Then we decided to head over to Pirates!

If anyone is wondering what time it was…

On the way in...

Pirates was basically a walk on! We stopped long enough for 2 boats to go then it was our turn! We enjoyed our trip through a politically incorrect pirate world and stopped in the gift shop on our way out, didn't buy anything though!

After POTC it was time to us to make our way back toward Splash! Our earliest FP return time was around 2:45 or 2:50 so we headed that way!

DH and I had intended on doing baby swap for this ride but he chickened out! He claimed he didn’t want to get wet! Sure! Had it been Kali he would have gone, I guarantee it! Not to mention, ummmmm hello Einstein! It’s really hot out!! Getting wet may feel good!

So I left DH and Ryan to find a happy place in some shade and the big kiddos and I went on our way!

This ride was a first for all of us!! DD was a little nervous going in. I tried to assure her that if she’s ok on Barnstormer she’ll be ok on Splash. The trouble with that is I’m not sure she actually enjoys Barnstormer :lmao:

But we were soon in our log and on our way!

We really, really LOVED Splash! Actually, it’s among the top things on my favs list now! We LOVED it! I think DD’s exact words were “It’s the best ride in the whole world!”

After Splash we found DH and a sleeping Ryan and it was time to head over to CP for our late lunch early dinner! Good thing DH decided to skip the baby swap because I don’t think we would have made it to CP in time for our ADR!

We soon found ourselves outside CP with like 7000 other people! YIKES! I figured this was going to a wait like at ME. At least this time we’d be sitting outside CP taking in the magic of WDW! Not standing online at the stinky airport!

I checked in with the CM at the podium that was right at the bottom of the stairs and went to wait with the family.

After about 10 minutes DH started to wonder if I had made a mistake and should have gone to the check-in window actually up on the porch he also questioned why we didn’t get a pager. I assured him that I had actually checked in and that they don’t give out pagers at CP. They announce your name “Pooh and Friends now welcome the …. Family!”

I also told him that if he wanted to verify he was more than welcome to go ask the girl at the podium. He did! Oh ye of little faith!

Not 5 minutes later we were called!!

Up next, Pooh Kisses and Watermelon Wishes and lots, lots more ;)

Yay awesome update Melissa! It was great to see your photos on FB but it's so much more fun to hear the stories behind the photos! :goodvibes

i could go for ALL of the above snacks...not to mention the heat, sunshine, and a good Splash!

Yayyy you're at the MK! :woohoo: Great shot of the castle there too!

Splash is such a great ride, I'm glad you and your kids liked it! What a wimp your DH was :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about your CP dinner :)
