Looks like we are staying in Tower/building 1 on the 400 floor/rooms...anybody fill me in on distance to pool/lazy river? Any tips on things to avoid and things to do etc..??

Staying 22-29 of Dec.

Looking for tips on getting around Disney to see the resorts decorations, what does it cost or can we get on the mono-rail or walk over to CBR and ride the Disney buses???

When you say tower 1 are you referring to the building to the right of the lobby? If so it is not very far at all to the main lobby where there is a kiddie pool with a mushroom like fountain. Also located in the same area is a big pool, hot tubs and the lazy river which had the warmest water. The pools are open 24hrs. A further away is another pool with a slide with the putt putt beside it. The main lobby also has a game room, room with checkers, computers, tv and pool table. You will also find the activity center in this building. If you are in the building I am thinking of it is a good location. We were in the 2nd building to the right of the main lobby and we were half way between the main pool and the second pool. We had first floor room and loved having the patio rather than a balcony. I loved this resort.

Forgot to add...

Check the activity center as they should have things going on all week. When staying this past time we basically took a whole day off between each park visit and took advantage of the activities around the resort. If they are offering any movies that are poolside go for it. Grab a lounger early depending on how crowded the resort is. They had an ice cream social and game night. In the activity room you can even check out the games to take back to your room. We became addicted to Bunco and also met a nice couple from the DC area. At the second pool they have karaoke there on one of the nights. No need to bring beach towel for the pool or hot tubs if you have warm weather to enjoy them but also remember they are heated and it was like bath water to us in late September. As far as the rooms with the kitchens they are well stocked. If you run out of items call housekeep and ask for it. They told use to go the end of our building and just ask house keeping who showed us a room full of stuff to help our self to. They will even re-supply you with laundry soap if needed. Our 2 bedroom unit had more storage and closet space they we needed. They are huge units.

I don't think you will be able to walk to CBR. It looked like some type of water between us. To get to the resort you had to drive down a road that was in my opinion too far to walk and busy. They had a bus at the resort that we used a couple times but it is on a limited schedule and only services for the Bonnet Creek so you don't have to worry about going to hotel to hotel like some of the offsite hotels do. It was always on time give or take a few minutes. If you want to resort hop go to the Poly, Contemp, or GF and park at one and get on the monorail to hop to the next one.

Some say you can see the Illuminations from the resort but we never did but then again we had a first level room.

Building 1 is a great location. Try to get a view of Epcot if you can, the higher in the buildng you are, the better. Fireworks are amazing from there.

The walk to CBR would be kind of a pain, and technically those busses are for WDW on-site guests. Bonnet Creek has a shuttle, very close to Bldg. 1. You will want to rent a car, but if it's too pricey this close to Christmas take cabs to the park, etc. We were there last Christmas, and the Bonnet Creek desk can call cabs and car services for you.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the replies. We are excited and wil be doing alot of just staying at the resort, golfing and basically one very very full day at MK(4pm at ealry dinner at Chef Mickkeys!!!) , boardwalk, resort decoration touring, and Downtown Disney.

You are staying at the right place if you plan to spend lots of time around the resort. Also if you are interested they have a nice grill under a covered shelter with tables. It is the exact one my uncle who went with us has. We grilled out every day we were there. This last trip was the first time going to Disney that we did not plan our meals related to Disney.

We stayed there this week and LOVED it. We were in the building to the left of the lobby. There was a nice walkway over to the lobby building and pool area. Not a far walk at all. We could see the top of the fireworks over the treetops at night (we were on the sixth floor). I would ask for a higher floor if that's important to you.

I would definitely return here. GREAT place, SUPER location

I couldn't believe how close we were to the parks...renting your own car and driving definitely beats Disney buses!

Can you tell me what is included in the kitchen? We'll be there from Dec. 22-Jan. 2. Also, how often does housekeeping come? Never stayed in a place with a kitchen before. :) Thanks!!! Also, should I make a request for anything when we check in?

Kitchen includes everything except the salt, pepper, and spices. They do have coffee filters and a starter pack of coffee, hot chococlate and microwave popcorn. Dishwashing liquid and dishwasher soap, dish clothes, dish towels and potholders are also provided.

You're in a timeshare, so unless you arrange and pay extra for housekeeping they will not be coming. You take out your own trash and there is a trash chute on every floor. I think if you ask you can get a clean towel exhange. There is a washer and dryer and a couple of boxes of tide.

In addition to what Janet Hill listed, there were dishes for 8, pots, pans, plastic storage containers, a mixer and blender, etc. I thought it was very well stocked.

Question about the pots and pans...
skillet? (for scrambled eggs or pancakes)

Thanks! My dd and I are sooooo excited! The more we read the more excited we get!
