Who's used it and for kids of what ages, was it successful?

My kids will be 5 and 8, I'm not sure if they will feel sick or not but I want to be prepared just in case.

For seabands do you need one on each wrist or is one wrist enough?

I gave my DD, who is 8, Bonine for our recent cruise because she has had issued with car sickness. She took one in the morning before we boarded our flight to Orlando, and I was glad she did because it was a bit of a rough flight. Also, the sea was choppy for the first couple of days -- we felt lots of movement. On the third day of the cruise, she told me she didn't need it anymore. I'm not sure whether the two she had already taken were still in her system, but she did not experience any motion sickness. I didn't notice any side effects, and she didn't complain of any.

We gave Bonine for Kids before we even got on the ship. My 9 year old and 7 year old took a whole one and my 4 year old took half a one. The seas were pretty rough and my daughter was starting to feel yucky so we also added another dose before dinner. So from then on they took 2 every day....one in the morning and one before dinner. The Bonine worked great for the kids and my husband and I. My 21 month old was too little for Bonine for Kids but fortunately he was ok without it.

Our kids take these starting the morning we fly out. No problems in 11 cruises......

We bought the Sea Bands when we cruised in May 2010. My DD was 10 at the time and she never used them. Before we cruised I asked my DD doctor what he recommended for sea sickness for her and he said since she takes allergy medicine on a daily basis that would be enough. Sure enough it was...she uses an over the counter allergy medicine so I started taking it a couple of days before we left and neither one of us had sea sea sickness. :goodvibes

Dramamine started as an allergy drug.

Where does one get sea bands? do they work? None of use are sensitive to motion but it's our first cruise.

You can get them at Target or Walmart, they are located where the Dramamine is. We didnt really use them so I am not sure if they work or not.

Sea bands totally work for my family. One on each wrist. I felt very dizzy on our first cruise, never sick, but. Dizzy and put my sea bands on and was right as rain within a half hour. Same with my son who was 5 at the time.

I suggest waiting and seeing if anyone feels bad first b/c you can't assume they will get sick, and then try the bands THEN medicine.

That's very interesting to know about allergy medicine. My four year old is on zyrtec, plus inhaler. I was worried about motion sickness with him (and me!!) since it's our first cruise...Magic in July but didn't want to put even more stuff into his system. I think I'll get those wrist bands to have on hand just in case.

Thank you all so much! I'm having trouble finding bonine for kids but Amazon carries it so I will get it there. I will also get sea bands at target/walmart and can return if we don't need them.

I just want to be prepared and don't want anyone to be sick or sleep through our vacation.

Sea Bands work! I swear by them. When my kids were little, I mail ordered the kids size Sea Bands (the adult size won't put enough pressure on little wrists). Now that they are both over 10, the adult size is what they wear. I prefer the black color, the light blue and light grey ones get stained by sunblock fyi

I used the Sea Bands when I was pregnant for morning sickness. I thought they helped some. I think I still have a pair and I plan to pack them and maybe pick up one more set.

No one in our family has any issues with motion sickness but I'd rather have them, just in case.

Does Bonine make you sleepy??

Hi all,

We had a very smooth cruise so each (both me and dd/9) took 1/2 Bonine the first night before bed as we were going pretty fast and completely aft. It does probably make you a little sleepy but not hungover at all feeling.

The second night just to be safe, I took another half and dd declined hers.

I will say however we have a pretty high tolerance! DD elected to ride Tower of Terror ALL day for her birthday the Tuesday before embarking...we rode it 11x back to back :rotfl:

Be sure to ask at the pharmacy. I was able to get 100 generic for $5 but they were only available behind the counter. (No script needed - just not available unless you ask)
