My family will be heading down to WDW next month. We plan on meeting up with my aunt who lives in Orlando one day while we're there. We want to go out to dinner with her somewhere at DTD. The only DTD sitdown restaurant we've eaten at is Rainforest Cafe and we want to try somewhere different this time. We were thinking possibly Bongo's Cuban Cafe. Those who have been there - what did you think? Or does anyone have any other recommendations? We have our same group of restaurants that we always go to and are looking to do something new. We would consider eating at a resort restaurant as well. However, we don't want to go somewhere where practically every entree on the menu is $20+. If it helps, we are a group of four 20 somethings, two 50 somethings, and my aunt who's in her 80's.

My husband and I love Raglan Road...great food and great entertainment.

Not a fan of Bongos. I have eaten there twice. Everything tastes the same and the service is terrible.

The one time we've been to Bongo's (at my insistence!) it was just OK. Not awful, but nuthin' special.

Here's another vote for Raglan Road, our favorite spot in DD.

I ate at Bongo's years ago and enjoyed it at the time. We have never attemtped to go back however.
Our new DTD favorite is Raglan Road. We love it there. It is a beautiful restaurant and the food and service are very good. We went a bit later in the evening so we were there for the band and Irish Step Dancer. It was great fun. We will be going back in October
Have a Great Trip

I'm usually the lone dissenter on Raglan Road, but I didn't care for it. It's a beautiful restaurant though.

I really like Wolfgang Puck, either the sit-down place or WPE. I've never had a bad meal there.

The next time I go to Bongo's I'll need a table for two: One for me, and one for the person holding the gun to my head. That was the worst meal and service I have ever had, in over 10 years at visiting WDW.

I would suggest Raglan Road or House of Blues as much better options.

Hmmm, well you know you will get the good and bad from any restaurant!

We loved Bongos, but my DH is puertoriccan and really wanted to try the cuban food. We enjoyed it alot, ordered way more food than we needed, but it was yummy!

Wolfgang Puck's was good, although our service sucked. We had to ask for things several times before we'd get it, and then we ordered dessert, waited for 10 minutes, and she returned to let us know that they were out of the dessert, then waited another 10 minutes for our 2nd option to come, even though it we could see it sitting up there ready for awhile.

So, both of these have good food options, and I think you'd be happy eating at either. Just keep your fingers crossed for a good server!

The problem with Bongos is that the food is as Cuban as Obama is Native American.

I would highly recommend House of Blues, great range on the menu, good food and certainly within your price range: www.hob.com
select the Orlando location

I can recommend the po' boy sandwich and the voo doo shrimp, many like the catfish nuggets with sweet potato fries too. Share the signature bread pudding dessert, it is amazing to see and taste. The atmosphere is casual and the staff was really friendly too. I think everyone in the group could enjoy HoB Orlando.

The night before I ate at HoB I walked into Bongos, great band was playing, and I got a wrist band, but I was never greeted by a hostess, offered a menu or seated, so I left. I friend had appetizers there recently and was not wowed by the service, found it incredibly slow. However, I think they enjoyed what they ate.

We love Bongo's...but then again, we love all latin food. I would go to Raglan Road.

I've eaten at bongo's only once in 2000 and it wasn't terrible but fell into the no desire to go back category. I think House of Blues was much better and it would be my choice.
