Bonefish Grill

Just back! Thanks to everyone who recommended the Bang Bang shrimp. It was heavenly!!

I had the Rainbow Trout with mango salsa and DH had the pork chops. There's enough leftover for us to eat dinner off of tomorrow! :woohoo:

The atmosphere was romantic and we had good service. Two thumbs up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That's where we went last night for dinner. We went early to beat the crowds. I had a cup of delicious corn chowder with lump crab soup and I ordered the yummy bang bang shrimp appetizer for an entree.

bang bang shrimp  We went Saturday night for dinner, I had a special, a filet mignon medallion and crab stuffed shrimp, it was delicious! (note- the shrimp were not stuffed, they were grilled and had crab meat on top!)

our Bonefish is about five minutes from our house, way too close. the pork chops with the fontina cheese is my favorite. for a place specializing in seafood, they've got a killer filet.

For those of you who like the bang bang shrimp appetizer at Bonefish, O'Charley's has added a shrimp dish to their menu that tastes just like bang bang shrimp. You get a lot more and for less money.

Stop it!! We have one of those a mile from our house.

O'Charley's has the greatest rolls of any restaurant in the free world.

Bang Bang shrimp are the best!:) We went this week too.

You can get the bang bang shrimp as an entree too (even though it is listed as an appetizer). For around $15ish here you get the house salad, bang bang shrimp, and the sides. Way too much food for me, so I get the house salad and the bang bang shrimp (and they don't charge full price for the salad when you do this, a little under $11 for both items here). I still have leftovers!

DH & I LOVE Bonefish!!! The bang-bang shrimp are out of this world, and our last visit (last weekend) we tried the crab cake appetizer. Another winner!!!

I must say, tho, that we took my mom there last weekend. It was her first time. She was craving a good steak, and our other friend who we go with all the time loves the filet. When she ordered it, she ordered it medium and stressed she likes it "pink," not rare, not raw in the middle, not bloody. The server basically argued with her and told her the chefs prefer medium rare to rare. ***? She stressed again that she likes it pink. Our server said he'd "see what he could do."

Wouldn't you know, when it came out, it was absolutely rare. It wasn't our server who brought the food out -- it was someone from the kitchen -- and Mom kept stressing for us to eat our fish before it got cold. So we did, and our server finally came around to see how everything was. She asked if she could have the steak thrown on the fire a bit more, and the server said the chefs won't do that, that it would "ruin" the meat. Sorry, but that's BS. We were just about finished with our fish at that point, and Mom just wanted to go. Our server did take the filet off the bill, but I doubt my mom would ever go there again.

I could *maybe* see a chef not cooking a filet well-done in a 4- or 5-Diamond AAA type of restaurant, but for a chain restaurant that's owned by the Outback people to not cook a filet medium?

That's been our only "off" experience there. We go for the fish, anyway, which is outstanding. No one beats the filet I make at home with my own bleu cheese butter and herbs, so I don't even order steak out anymore. I'll make a nice steak dinner for Mom this weekend to give her her steak "fix."

I can't imagine anyone getting that kind of treatment from any restaurant. What was the server trying to do that night? Get themselves fired for arguing and refusing to put the order in as requested? :confused3

OT - Your filet with bleu cheese butter and herbs sounds delicious. Do you have the recipe? PM me if you don't want to post. Please??

Oh - I just had to post. Bonefish Grill is one of my favorite restaurants! I usually get a house salad (very, very yummy and crisp) and the Bang Bang Shrimp as my meal. The martinis are very good here - and pretty strong. I like the Lemon Drop martini. The bread/olive oil is also very good. It's also a good restaurant for kids. DS loves their kids shrimp.

I know! We were seriously surprised. Server was just as good as any other we've ever had there in the beginning. He was prompt about getting us our drinks and spent a lot of time going over the menu (all the sauces, how the fish are fresh, etc). Weird, weird day.

Like I said, DH & I would absolutely go back, but we always get the fish ... and a cosmo :)

Bleu Cheese Butter:

Serves 3-4 (easy to adjust for less)

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup crumbled bleu cheese (2 oz)
*1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
*1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1-2 garlic cloves, minced

*Fresh is best on this one. Dried herbs just don't cut it here, IMO.

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate, if desired, for up to one hour. Can also sit out on the counter for 20 minutes or so while the steaks are cooking.

As soon as steaks are done (grill, broil, pan sautee, whatever), immediately plate them and put a big dallop of the butter on them. You want that butter hitting them when they're hottest and the butter has a chance to melt a little while you put the rest of the plate together.

Enjoy!!! This one is easy as pie :)
