Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

And, no, anyone who can meet the requirements (petition signatures, etc.) can run whether or not they have the blessing of the DNC (or RNC).

Again, legally being able to run, and running without the encouragement and support of the DNC or RNC are to very different things. Without the blessings of their respective national committees it is very unlikely, in fact probably impossible, for anyone to make it past the first handful of primaries.

Excellent post - thank you!!!

I bolded something that bothered me about this whole mess of sermons, as well.

Its almost as if he's telling anyone in Church who doesnt agree with him, should be ashamed of themselves. And who wouldnt want to agree with whom they look up to, spiritually? And if they dont look up to him, why are they going there....

The whole thing is absurd, and defending any of it is even more mind boggling.

People have opinions. What many of us are saying is that enough is enough and the idea of infiltrating a church to prove a political point is digusting, disgraceful, and completely unAmerican. Good grief, have we really sunk that low? I'd expect that from the old Soviet Union, but not in my America. YMMV.

But if some folks wish to do that and start scrutinizing everything that was ever said by any preacher anywhere and at anytime, just don't be surprised if it eventually bites you in the ***. When it does, just remember your part in getting the process started. Then you can scream about your "freedom of religion" and no one will be listening.

Thank you Luv. Self righteousness isn't a great quality in anyone. We need to really think about the foundations of our democracy. Choosing to supplement our open society with a healthy dose of police state isn't what our country is about.

Police state???

Wright was yelling "fire" (at Whitey) in a crowded church. :scared1:

So now I guess this all a teachable foundations of democracy moment.

If you dont' want people infilitrating your church or scrutinizing your relationship with your pastor or forcing you to answer questions about a sermon or disclosing your private discussions with that pastor, you better be careful about the doors you open now.

It's all fun, games, and "gotcha" right now, but keep it up and you will be writing new rules for politics and religion. What goes around, comes around.

Eventually, it'll reach you and there won't be anyone left to fight for your religious freedom or your right to privacy.

Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it.

Maybe these preachers shouldn't be taking (and selling!) videos of their sermons if they don't want them plastered all over the news.

And I'm still confused about what you mean by "infiltrate"? Are you talking about the reporter that sat in Obama's church and then reported on it? If so, it sounds like you want freedom of press to take a second seat to freedom of religion. IMO, they both have equal footing.

And secondly, this is a election vetting process, not governmental interference. Or do you want the government to step in and put a stop to this?

This is JUST MY OPINION-so it's only worth that-but there's something slimy to me about a reporter or anyone going to a church for the purpose of finding something bad that you can write about. It just feels ICKY.

Carry on....

Should churches and religious clerics be OFF LIMITS for ANY REASON at all times?

Should churches and religious clerics be OFF LIMITS for ANY REASON at all times?

Like I said-it just feels wrong to me. I'm not saying "there ought to be a law" or anything. I'm a firm believer in a Free Press.

Just as a personal rule-I wouldn't go to another person's church for the sole purpose of finding something to criticize.

Unless there's criminal behavior, yes. There has to be a reasonable expectation of privacy in one's church. Just the way the public's right to know ends at your castle's doorstep, so should it at your church's doorstep.

I don't go to church. It doesn't matter a rat's *** to me if every church in the country shut down. But there are principles involved. The rules you demand now will still be in place 5 years from now, but the politics will have changed.

Be careful how wide you open that church door.

Not surprising, it was a McCain Republican Aid that circulated the Wright sermons, he's been suspended from the campaign apparently... this is just now breaking, being reported on CNN & Politico

They've now shown what they're up to, and been pinned for it, Clinton should tread her water very carefully...

it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that McCain would approve of-I don't agree with him on the issues but I think he's a decent man.

I could do that, Joe. I could go over your pastor's sermons with a fine toothed comb and I will find something that will offend someone. I could start a firestorm.

But, I won't because your church is your right. What your pastor tells you is no business of mine. I have too much respect for your right to privacy and your right to your religious beliefs for me to start noseying around looking for something to hit you over the head with.

Sorry, I won't go there. YMMV.

Only if she's getting rides from Ted.

Be careful what you ask for. So now any right-wing religious zealot nutjob is off limits regardless of what they say or who they support. Unless they break the law...

I would be damned surprised if McCain doesn't hang the culprit up by the short hairs.

Apparently it's being reported he was suspended from the campaign, but you know these are the tactics that will be used. There's a lot of video out there on both candidates, and on McCain himself, Dem's are both going to have to get their acts together and act with great precision.

As long as it is in that church, and no laws are being broken, ain't no business of mine. But, I sure as hell will not lose any sleep over "payback is a *****" should it come to that.

There has to be a good faith effort and a gentleman's/lady's agreement on both sides or there will be payback.
