Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

I am a catholic in the boston Archdiocese.....should i be held accountable for the opinions of every priest and archbishop in my archdiocese....The man is entitled to his opinion, and should not be deemed to speak for Obama....even though he is 100% correct....i mean was not ted haggard, the meth smoking, gay prostitute soliciting preacher not a supporter of GWB

No, GWB should not be accountable for Haggard's crimes because he was not a member and did nor attend his church.

This seems to be the big deflecting argument. "Hey, GWB met with Jerry Falwell once (feigned indignation)."

Obama should not be accountable for what his spritual advisor/mentor and pastor has said over 20 years. He should be accountable for sitting in the filth that this man spewed out of his mouth for 20 years, judged for the wisdom of embracing it by having this hateful man marry him, baptize his children, etc. Instead -- he describes him as "that weird uncle". You know what, if my weird uncle spewed that kind of filth and hate out of his mouth, I wouldn't go to his church, I wouldn't have him over for dinner, I wouldn't send him a Christmas card and I most certainly wouldn't invite him to give the invocation at my announcement to run for the presidency.

You cannot possibly compare white supremacy to what this preacher is saying. White racism comes with a history of slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, discrimination in housing, jobs education etc.

And the thing about a weird uncle is that they are family and you have to put up with them. A pastor and spiritual advisor is a whole different story, you never have to see them again if you don't want to.

You didnt mention if you would use him for spiritual advise, though? ;)

I remember Oprah once saying: Show me your friends, and I'll show you you.

THis is what I was thinking. I heard this type of stuff all while growing up from my mom. The company you keep builds your reputation and other things along those lines. There have certainly been threads right here on the CB from posters asking about how or should they limit contact with their kids' chosen friends.

The people you hang with says a lot about you.

Racism is abhorrent no matter what the race. No form of racism gets a pass. Period. Full stop. Do not pass go.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

Yeah? Well the angry white men that have union jobs are going to be a lot angrier when the "manly" party of Republicans destroys the last of the unions and they can't even afford to spend a few bucks on strippers. Then what party will they blame?

These angry white, blue collar men are angry at the wrong people.

If it came to light John McCain was getting his spiritual advice from a KKK member, after being married by him and baptising the kiddo's - I'd be appauled, disgusted and freaked the heck out.

Not only that, but it would be on the cover of the NY Times and every other national paper and the Republican party would already be calling for him to step aside.

Right, so you must be completly disgusted with Ferraro's comments.

I do not know how I feel about her comments. Honestly. I am very torn.

Because I do not see what is so fantastic about Obama and his message over other dems like John Edwards or Chris Dodd (white males that were in the race and dropped out but had very similar platforms) or Hillary (a white woman who most here will agree has a platform almost identical to Obama's), I do wonder what it is that elevated him above the crowd.

But if it is his race, I do not see that as a bad thing - as long as it is not the only thing. Mentioning a person's race - or the advantages/disadvantages that go along with it is not racism.

Saying that he is only where he is today because he black is racism IMO. But I don't think Hillary should be responsible for some stupid comments made by some one supporting her.

I'm not blindly supporting Obama. I'm not taking glee everytime Hillary gets a slap down.

I have read several sources to get the Ferraro quote. I am not finding where she said that his is where is today only because of his race. Can you direct me?

Obama's free-trade, Yaley economic advisor is a lot scarier than his pastor. He states that 60-70% of the US economy faces no internaitonal foreign competition, without acknowledging that we've shipped all of the globally competitive industries overseas. He sees re-training people who's jobs are being sent to Mexico (via NAFTA), China, Indonesia, and Eastern bloc countries, whose environmental, labor, and safety standards are completely inferior to ours, as the only solution. Hey, how about trying to keep industry in the U.S? If Obama is taking his advice from this guy, he is no friend of middle class America.

Yet Hillary and McCain are just as bad. How did we end up choosing between nearly identical candidates-- again?

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position."

I don't see it.....He was just stating the truth....
The white man has always controlled the power and the money in this country...Blacks are still discriminated....and he was stating how
"hillary" or any white person for that matter....wouldn't have any idea how much racism is still alive.
Why is that so bad to say....when it is just a fact.:confused3
Kerri

Don't you think Hillary knows something about prejudice? I am sure she know all about sexism! What is the difference between sexism and racism? :confused3
Hillary gets called out if she shows any emotions as being weak yet if she is strong she is called a B****.

Sorry if this is a repost, but I just read on Fox News that the pastor also said in a sermon that America invented the AIDS virus to kill black people.

This is getting weirder and weirder.

Well I don't think there's really much debating then and have to chalk it up to a difference of views and move on.

I think this has the potential to blow up in Obama's face if he doesn't address this immediately (even though he has in the past - the media is looking for the next Ferraro story) but I don't believe *for a second* he shares his pastor's views, especially on the fact that America is responsible for 9/11. And frankly, those who think he does believe that, wouldn't have voted for Obama in the first place (same as those who think he's a terrorist working with Bin Laden to take over the country). I think the Pastor is a nutjob and incredibly racist and offensive but I don't hold Obama accountable for his Pastor's views, even if I am troubled by the fact he referred to him as his "spiritual advisor."

Oh and I think the Democrats have just about handed the Presidency to McCain and if this continues to the convention, you can bet Cindi can start picking out drapes for the WH.

(I think you can take that as an honest opinion from a supporter SwedishMeatball :))

I'm not SwedishMeatball, but I (very much) appreciate your honest response New Jersey.

I think alot will happen between now & November, so I don't believe that Cindi will be picking out any new drapes though.

::yes::

To quote Bill Clinton "it's the economy, stupid." You know, that thing McCain knows nothing about?
