Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

I totally agree with you Chuck and Charade!!!

Obama is the one who has, for years, endorsed and associated with this preacher.

I could not care any less what some preacher in some church may say... But, it does become a defining issue when a person who is running for president of this country chooses to maintain close association with this person, and considers this person an 'advisor' in any way shape or form!!!

I honestly don't see how this has gone on this long before it has come out.
Now Obama almost has the Democratic nomination wrapped up...

It is a sad state of affairs in this country when the person who could be the President of our country, willingly associates and involves and takes advice from somebody who could issue such 'hate speech' about this very country. :sad2:

Yes, I do believe that Obama and his wife do hold some of these same beliefs. NO doubt in my mind...

Really? Maybe that's why the Rev. gets angry. We owe it to our kids to let them know the good, the bad and the ugly about this nation's history. Too many of them don't know much of it. Heck, I went through high school in the 60's. Would not have heard about the Holocaust were it not for the fact the school had a high percentage of Jewish kids, some of whose parents and grandparents were survivors. When they brought it up in history, the teacher usually said, "well that can't happen here" and then went on to deny the Interment Camps.

If seems contradictory - was it persaussive or not credible?

Bolding mine - words the OP.

History doesn't need to be taught with hate and division.

The intent was to be persuasive, but it fell far short of the mark for me.

Is Rod Parsley McCain's Spiritual Advisor and minister? I thought McCain attended services in AZ, not OH. Does McCain attend any church regularly? I tried looking it up online, but when I go to the McCain campaign website, I don't see a click through for information, only "Donate" info.

Really, McCain has made a conscious decision to make Hagee his spiritual adviser? I didn't know that, simply that he endorsed him, just as Louis Farrakhan endorsed Obama. If the situation is different, please show me where he is involved with McCain's campaign. As far as Parsley, it is the same situation as Obama, and I never said anything different. Also, McCain isn't running to be the nominee for my party, he's a Republican. Believe me, I live near San Antonio. I know about Hagee.

You can't control who endorses you. You CAN control who you appoint to your committees and which church you choose to attend.

See here's the thing, you don't know anything about Wright's church. Matter of fact non of you do because you never attended a sermon there.

IF you said you had concrete proof because you were part of the congregation and knew 100% that this man preached hate during his sermons before he retired, I would understand your concerns, but since you and I both know this isn't the case, and that these views are based on a 3 min sound byte put together by the media, well I guess that a wrap.

I'm not sure why you use the term "spiritual adviser". While I'm sure there are a few people who see a minister in that way, there are many more that would find that a strange and unnecessary relationship. Sort of the same way some folks would love to have a "mentor" and others think it just makes you look dependent and silly.

My take, unless someone actually introduces me to "Joe Smith, my spiritual adviser", or "Joe Smith, my mentor" I would never assume that anyone has chosen that type of relationship.

Have you chosen a "spiritual adviser?" Is this type of relationship one you find helpful?

Uhh, the post 9-11 sermon was delivered years ago. Looks pretty hateful to me. Would you choose to support and attend a church after that sort of sermon?

One of my church ministers gave an off-topic political sermon once, nothing hate filled, just encouraging people to "vote" as God would want them to. It didn't set with our congregation. church members contacted a bishop and 3 weeks later we had a new minister.

I actually think Mike Huckabee has a good point. As an older gentleman, Rev. Wright has life experiences that are different than younger people of today. I can understand the anger from inside him. I'm not black and it makes me very angry to think about what whites did to and how they treated blacks years ago.

I just think that his anger sounded so hateful and yeah, he got caught up with his emothions in those speeches and his anger jsut can tumbling out. I am not amking excuses for him but I understand his anger.

I just do not think a minister should preach hate and anger like that from the pulpit. That is where I fault him. He may feel that inside but he needs to redirect that anger and work for positive race realtions like Obama seems to. He is preaching hate and probably making others angry again/moreso and teaching/passing that anger on to the younger people.

No, we do not want to ever forget what happened in this country. No, we do not want to sweep it under the rug. But we do need to heal. beating the dead horse will not start the healing process it only keeps it iritated.

Assigning Rev. Wright a place in his campaign was not a smart move for Obama, but if he has been close friends with this man for 20 years, he probably felt the need to do it. It does reflect badly on his judgement IMHO. He should have taken his family and walked out on those sermons, IMHO. But he did not. I have no idea why he did not when he says that he does not agree with it, but he didn't.

And I think there is probably a link in Wright's retirement and Obama's running. Sure he's old but people preach for a long, long time. I think it is good that they can say there is a new minister there. I hope the new man is better at looking back to the past and remembering it, and going forward than getting up there and spouting off hate and causing more division.

By definition, isnt your minister somone you talk to for Spiritual guidance and advise?

Want me to go? Cuz I can go one Sunday and see what happens, if you'd like.

It doesnt MATTER that any of us havent gone. Obama HIMSELF admitted that he'd seen the goings-ons - but he's like an old Uncle to him, so it's cool.

Geez - WTH does this guy have to do before the rose colored glasses come off?!?!?!?

Talking to someone casually, occasionally about religion doesn't make them a "spiritual adviser". That has sort of a guru connotation...most folks feel personally responsible for their religious life. Just my opinion. :goodvibes

Obama reffered to him as a spiritual advisor before this all came to a head!

You tell me, how Obama plans to go to countries that dislike America and have talks with them (as he stated he had planned on doing) and defend this WONDERFUL country to them - when he couldnt even defend us to Uncle J???

Give me a HUGE freaking break!!!

First and foremost - *he* reffered to him as such, previous to this mess he's made.

Secondly.... he didnt talk to him casually...remember? He's Uncle Jeremiah!!! He Married him, baptised his children and attended his services for 20 years. Thats not casual.

Would you like me to remove your quote?? Im referring to Obama - youre referring to McCain....

I still stand by what I said.

Youre right - next time Ill be sure to read 1200+ posts before I post. :)

Yep... Give us a freakin' break!!!

Obama personally KNOWS this man, and what he preaches.
He knowingly continued to associate with this church, with this pastor, for many years. And yes, I believe he did refer to him as his 'spiritual advisor'.

Anybody who can't see the truth here doesn't just have on rose colored glasses, they are wearing full blinders!

I'm sorry, but are you saying those who don't agree with you are wearing rose colored glasses? And what's with the grrrrrr? I mean really you sound so angry. If you do go maybe you need to pray for grrrrrr relief because life is to short to be so angry.
