Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

I'm sorry, but are you saying those who don't agree with you are wearing rose colored glasses? And what's with the grrrrrr? I mean really you sound so angry. If you do go maybe you need to pray for grrrrrr relief because life is to short to be so angry.

Not angry. Completley and TOTALLY disgusted.

See here's the thing, you don't know anything about Wright's church. Matter of fact non of you do because you never attended a sermon there.

IF you said you had concrete proof because you were part of the congregation and knew 100% that this man preached hate during his sermons before he retired, I would understand your concerns, but since you and I both know this isn't the case, and that these views are based on a 3 min sound byte put together by the media, well I guess that a wrap.

That's been the point from the beginning. None of them actually know. They want you to "do the math", look at contradictions, etc. but, the fact is none of them know and none of them can offer any concrete proof of what Obama knew or what he heard during those sermons he attended. If they did, this discussion would've been over pages ago because the proof would've been presented right away.

But, none of us were supposed to notice that. :lmao:

By definition, isnt your minister somone you talk to for Spiritual guidance and advise?

I did enjoy talking a bit, but have learned this thread is more about absolutes than issues. My only point was that unless McCain had introduced someone as his "spiritual advisor", then maybe the fair thing to do is just refer to them as a minister. I'm just not an angry person-life's too short. I'll take the hint from the "friends" to play elsewhere.
Best Wishes...lily

I would have figured that after 84 pages some people should have figured it out that no one is trying to assign blame on Obama for what his preacher said, it's the question of, does he harbor some of those same feelings?

I think he and his wife do.

Really? That's odd...I could have sworn that in these 84+ pages several posters have been villefying Obama for not leaving the church. They are claiming he is guilty by association, simply because he happened to attend the church where Rev White preaches.

I can't imagine how anyone could claim that Obama and his wife share all of the opinions of his preacher, especially since he publicly denounced them.

Go ahead and grasp at straws.

This thread has helped me decide that Senator Obama is the candidate I will be supporting.
It's been interesting and enlightening! Thanks all! :thumbsup2

This has helped reaffirm my support for him as well. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

CR, if you decide to attend this particular church, you might want to take some others with you. Also, this Sunday is Easter and it's likely to be quite packed.

And before someone asks, yes, I would indeed be fearful of attending this particular church given the reaction of the congregation during the racist sermons and the spotlight that is currently directed upon them.

Would you choose to attend a church where the sermons include racial bigotry?

If so, why?

Oh, so now all his sermons are racist? You know this how?

First, I was referring to the reactions shown on the videos of the particular sermons that yes, I call racist. I have no idea how many were given.

Second, as has been mentioned, Rev. Wright is no longer the minister so I would hope there would not be a racist sermon but I still would not be expecting a warm welcome from the congregation at this particular church.

Then I suspect quite a hefty number of churches in this country will have to shut their doors.

The congregation of our church insisted upon, and received, a new minister after some politicizing from the pulpit on only one Sunday. Three weeks later we had a new minister, and we are a very, very small Methodist church.

So again, how many racist sermons does it take before it is a bad thing?

I personally don't appreciate anything resembling social issues or politics being discussed from the pulpit. My point was to say that if someone condemns Obama's church of being racist, there are MANY white evangelical fundamentalist churches, along with some mainstream protestant and catholic ones, that belong on that list also.

Second you'd be wrong... a girl from our area who is white went to the church and did not feel that she was in any way not welcomed. Secondly there is a rather sizeable segment of the church that is actually white.... It's not entirely 100% a black church, so to say that if you went there you would not be welcomed warmly, well, you have no standing on the subject.

That too. Why is it impossible for him not to harbor some (or many?) of the beliefs (they're in his autobiography) of his pastor (the man who inspired the book)?

*I* didn't say all. Maybe some others did.

Girl, please.... my family grew up on the "South Side". I can throw down. ;)

Ill see what I can accomplish - no kidding. I dont 'do' Easter. Ill see what I can figure out.

Isn't ONE too many?

Is it alright if only a few sermons are racist?

Apparently not.

So again, how many racist sermons does it take before it is a bad thing?

Who in the heck knows??/ Its truly baffling to me. These 'this only makes me want him more **thumps up** posts are making me :sad2: . Proud your wanna-be President went to a racist church??

And this:

Then I suspect quite a hefty number of churches in this country will have to shut their doors.

Not one of us, I believe, has said "Oh, it totally cool that "white" chruches do this at some locales, but we'll be darned if a "black" church is going to do it! We wont stand for it!"

None of us said that - Im pretty sure ALL of us feel 2 wrongs, dont make a right.

We're certainly not 'thumbs upping' racist white churches.
