Bombshell Obama Pastor Video

Yes, I know the Right would like to ignore a serious pastor eruption. Read Hagee's views...There's no way McCain didn't know who he was joining forces with. That link says more than enough. I find Hagee very, very dangerous, and I find McCain sadly uninformed or out of touch with reality.

But not Wright? :confused3

Is there still wide spread *real* suffering, oppression, lynchings, Jim Crowe laws, etc...

Mass incarceration and disproportionate sentencing is real suffering IMO. Yes, life is much, much better these days for everyone, but to equate the 2 minutes of raving from this pastor to centuries of real suffering is beyond obnoxious.

There is no comparison to being in the KKK and belonging to a church that preaches Black Liberation Theology. BTW, I looked that up on google as per Zip's advice and found nothing scary about it.

Me too-but I wasn't voting McCain anyway-with or without Hagee. I disagree with him on the war in Iraq, on foreign policy, on healthcare, and it worries me that he has an admitted lack of knowledge about economics as we head into the worse recession this country has seen in years.

I don't vote on the candidate's pastors or on the people who endorse them. I vote on the candidates stand on secular issues.

I was just really shocked that a two second google brings up some incredibly ugly stuff. You'd think a candidate for Pres. would have an aide or two that knew how to search. Worrisome...:sad2:

But not Wright? :confused3

Well, Wright is retired. That means he's no longer working. I didn't intend this to be confusing.

Hagee is full speed ahead, McCain's endorser, going about the usual "pastoring" from the hard right. Of course, hate from the right is well, tolerated. :rolleyes1

Exactly. It is about the issues. All these people in hysterics over a couple of hateful comments, with a few exceptions, would not have voted for Obama anyway and are just having their moment of gloating. The McCain supporters should be enjoying this as his favorable ratings go up every time Obama OR Hillary has a new "gate." I'm not sure why the Hillary supporters or so over the moon about this though. It's not going to help her in November if she gets the nomination (which I would be just as pleased to voter for her as Obama).

McCain's having a pretty easy ride right now, because the media is too busy with Hillary and Obama to bother with him much. However, I don't think that's going to last. At some point there is going to be a discussion of the change in John McCain from 2000 to 2008. A few of the talking heads are already touching on it. He's done some major switching around regarding the issues and he's going to have to explain that.

No,, it doesn't. But neither does having anger about how blacks have been treated in this country make people who know someone who expresses that anger a racist.

"Sufferings" in quotations -are you implying that people have not suffered in this country?

I have been thinking a lot about the Rev., his comments and the effect on Obama. While I can understand being angered at racisim that does still exist in this country, I think there are better ways to express said outrage. I do think it reflects badly on Obama. Even if he wasn't there in person to hear the "sermons", he had to have known it was going on. I do not think Obama is responsible for what other people say, but it is a reflection on oneself with who one associates.

This also applies to McCain and his courting of the relgious right wackos.

You really should think about taking a job in a movie theater. You'd make a great projectionist.

I don't agree that going to jail for committing a crime is suffering. Now if you're trying to imply that blacks are going to jail at higher rates just because they're black and innocent, I'd like to see proof of that. Because that would be wrong. But that has nothing to do with "3 strikes". Unless of course you think the black person was unfairly charged and sentenced THREE TIMES.

While I've never experience the hopeless, rejection and anger many blacks feel about their lives. I am not to blame, my parents were immigrants to this country in the early 1900's. They struggled like all other immigrants. We were never slaves though.

I do have to say though, They were poor, they were labeled, and made fun of.

Never did they knock this new country. They were proud of their new country, and worked hard, made sure their children got a good education so they could better their lives.

When a pastor preaches hate, his parishioners hate. When a pastor preaches conspiracy, his parishioners believe in conspiracies. When a pastor damns America, his parishioners condemns America too.

The hatred that people like this preach doesn't do anyone any good. This pastor may have many degrees but he's still preaching HATE. Anyone who sits and listens to this hate, somewhere it shows. (For the first time in my adult life, I proud to be a American) Sounds to me like a Rev. Wright quote.

My pastor preaches love, forgiveness and The Bible. I could never sit and listen to him preach hatred, I would leave and never return.

I was never an Obama supporter, never will be an Obama supporter. especially after listening to these quotes. I cannot believe somewhere in Obama's 20 years of friendship he's never heard any of these sermons. A Democrate voting for McCain for sure. I was undecided not anymore.

Good post.

McCain, huh? His guy Hagee is spreading the hate on a daily basis.

Hagee's comments are so offensive I've just left the link. Whether a hard leftist, or a hard rightist, both seem to enjoy spreading a little ugliness.

Perhaps the key difference is that your relatives chose to come to the USA. While the slaves did not....that is a very different foundation.

I feel that it is important to listen to things we may not agree with , so that we can understand and then learn and grow and move forward....

Do you consider someone who you have considered a close advisor for 20 years, helped name your book, pastored you church, married you, and baptized you kids as someone you know. Sounds like this pastor was a close friend, advisor, and spiritual leader to me.

A little more than just casual friends who "know each other".

Back to you regularly scheduled deflection now.

Did you listen to the Sermon that was the catalyst for the book title? Don't think so, it was nothing like what you've seen on TV

It is about the issues, and both sides seem to be forgetting that... If you want to stay in war in Iraq and add Iran to it as well, go ahead, vote for McCain. If you want to vote for a guy that himself says he does not have enough economic experiences, then vote for him... oh, and we're in a recession, so keep that in mind. If you want help with your health insurance, don't forget McCain, he's got no help for you..... The issues have long been forgotten...

I listen and I understand. I know they were brough here as slaves, animals were treated better, to this day blacks are still looked at to many as inferior. I saddens me greatly, but I still say there is no place for hatred, condemnation and conspiracy in this world. No matter what.

Did that really come across that way to you? I'm glad you asked.

The word "Sufferings" is merely my way of compounding all the problems that everyone has suffered throughout the human experience. It is not meant to imply that these problems are trivial or non-existent.

Hasn't Obama said he would rethink his position on Iraq once in office? What are Obama's qualifications as an economic expert? And, McCain does have a plan for healthcare -- one that isn't a socialist agenda. The issues have not been forgotten. A look into Obama's pastor is just a look into who Obama actually is.

I for one - thought it was laughable that Obama said he was little pieces of America (Saturday -- Indiana Town Hall) -- yeah right. His father wasn't even an American citizen. He went to boarding schools in foreign countries. Had the wonderful opportunity to attend 2 Ivy League schools. Hmm -- not the typical pieces of America.

I do not disagree with you...
I know that rev. wrights sermon "audacity of Hope" inspired Barack Obama and influenced his speech at the 2004 Democratic convention. That speech was wonderful and we do need to stop defining our country by our differences.
i have not listened to it yet...but the sermon is on audio tape and i think we should all listen to a larger sampling of Rev. Wright before we 'throw out the baby with the bath water'.

I appreciate the tone of your postings... while others seem to be enjoying the "pastorgate" almost reveling in it....I can tell you have been thoughtful about the issue.

He said he will start bringing the troops out immediately, but he would be as careful getting out as we were getting in. He's just not drawing them out in one fell swoop.

One of his advisor's made this statement you are thinking of, and he has refuted it, and the advisor is no longer an advisor. He wanted no part of this war, but he wants out as safely as possible.

As for his boarding schools, he got scholarships, or does that not count? He went to a State University before finishing his final year at Columbia.... so while true he graduated from an Ivy league, he went 3 years at a State University.

While at Harvard and traveling back to Chicago to help where he could, he drove a beat up car, and had nothing but old shoes that had holes. He got scholarships and thousands and thousands in loans....

Do not equate what he has done with someone that has been priviledged. My kids travel Internationally, they are not priviledged

Afterall, McCain is the 8th richest Senator, Clinton is the 9th richest Senator, she making 10.6 million dollars in '06, McCain less but with enormous holdings. Meanwhile Obama had an income of 500K, about 10 million short of Clinton.

I did (not all) and have to wonder if Wright has a split personality.
