Is it worth going to? Is it hard to get a bus to go back to our resort afterwards? My DD is a little miss picky pants so will be ok with the food?

What meal are you going for? Breakfast or lunch? We love Boma and have enjoyed it each time.

As far as transportation, you will need to take a bus from AKL to a park and then another bus to your resort. Taxis are readily available and Uber has drivers all around WDW and are cheaper than taxi.

Boma is one of my favorite restaurants I think it is always worth it, to get back to your resort you can do one of 3 things, bus to park then bus to your resort , bus to Disney Springs then bus to your resort or a taxi. As for your daughter they have kids food at the buffet, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets things like that.

We loved our dinner at Boma! My husband and I really dislike buffets but decided to take a chance on it because of the positive reviews and I'm glad we did. There are a lot of wonderful options that range from tame to more exotic (but nothing really exotic). Whether your daughter will be happy depends on exactly how picky she is...there are things like mac & cheese for sure and chicken nuggets (I think) but the majority of the items do have a slight African flare to them. She most likely will be able to find enough things to be content...they have delicious ripe fruits like pineapple, watermelon, strawberries, etc.

To get back to your resort from Boma, just take any park bus and then transfer to your resort bus. Animal Kingdom park is the closest park to AKL but depending on what time your meal is and what time the park closes you may need to take a bus to a different park and then transfer there instead.

Boma is our only must do every trip ( this will be our 3rd time)- we go for dinner. I have an adult child who is a fairly picky eater and she loves it here. We try to plan for dinner after an animal kingdom afternoon

Dinner :)

You'll find "regular" food on the buffet so you should be OK with a picker eater. That is unless they are super picky and then it might be hard anywhere. ;)

The nicest part to us is visiting AKL. It's great to go outside and see what animals are nearby.

It is well worth it for dinner! They have a kids buffet area with more "normal" foods.

I sometimes do WDW bus service there and then taxi back to my resort.

I could have written the exact same reply !!! We go after our AK day as well !! Such a relaxing way to end the day, and the food is amazing !! People get scared off by it, as far as the type of food/seasonings, but our kids love it,
and still say they have the best pasta and meatballs in Disney !

Boma is wonderful. Other than Via Napoli and a dinner years ago at Tokyo Dining, it's the only other meal I've had at WDW where I've found the food to be extremely good. Not acceptable for theme park food or tolerable for mass produced food but actually really GOOD.

Boma isn't open for lunch.
I think the Boma dinner buffet has a great selection of foods. There are kid choices as well and some fairly standard offerings such as the carving station. The deserts are great.
The best way to get back to your resort after dinner depends on where you are staying and which parks are still open when you finish your meal. Usually taking a bus from AKL to a still open park and then transferring to a bus to your resort works. Or take the bus to DTD then switch to your resort's bus. A lot of people take the bus from AK to AKL to get to Boma for dinner.

This! We went for the first time last September, and it's my new favorite. My adult kids who are not very middle eastern/african/Indian food friendly still found the food delicious (it's disney level exotic--different enough that I liked it, but familiar enough that my kids did too.)

Oops! I meant dinner.

They have the famous Disney Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn dog bites, carved meats like ham, turkey and pork. Since it is a buffet, you can easily start with a sampler of items and then head back for seconds on favorites.

There's definitely ample food options, even for the picky eater. That being said, we found it a bit cramped with the buffet line consistently long and crowded. We were staying at AKL so I have no regrets about eating there, but I doubt we'd ever go out of our way to go back.

Never miss it. The only buffet which is a must do for us.

We went to Boma last February for the first time and the experience was less than stellar.
The line for the meats was absurdly long and when I timed my wait, it was 20 minutes. When you have three kids less than 5 and two adults taking turns to go through the food line, it makes for an awful long wait before the whole family could all sit together.
I have heard great raves about the food on this forum, but the food was really no different than any other buffet, Disney or otherwise. Fish, meat, standard salads, and soups. Not worth $50.

How about Boma for breakfast at 7.30am before going to AK park? Is there enough time to get to the park in time?Do you think this is a good choice? I sadly could not get Boma dinner, but managed to get Sanna for early dinner instead. Have not been to either places.

It is absolutely worth the transportation trickiness to go to Boma! My husband and I tried it for the first time on our trip last March and loved it so much we cancelled an ADR another night to go twice! They're super accommodating (I'm gluten intolerant and had no trouble finding tons of good). What's really great about Boma is that it's just food you won't find anywhere else and it's all done really well.
Plus, to offset the transportation time, I'd plan to spend a little time exploring AKL, it's an absolutely gorgeous hotel and if you go outside there are animal guides who will teach you all about the safari animals on property. The animals come surprisingly close to the fence so it's a great picture opportunity and just a great experience too. You need to be a guest to swim in the pool but you can still roam around and enjoy.

It is my favorite meal on property. The flavors are definitely toned down compared to more authentic African restaurants and while there may be an exotic tasting option or two I don't consider the place all that exotic at all. Even toned down the flavors there are better then any other buffet on property save Tusker House.
