Our last day we currently have ADR for Tusker House. DH and I are taking my parents this trip. They haven't been since our last "family" trip in 1996. I was just thinking how much DH and I enjoyed Boma last time (Oct 07) and maybe this would be better as a last day place for dinner.

We haven't eaten at Tusker House so I don't have anything to do a compare-contrast. I just want this to be magical. We will be at AK on Monday April 14 hence why I had us down for Tusker House. It wouldn't be too much to hop on the bus over to AKL to eat dinner.

Ideas? Thoughts? Reccomendations?

We never made it to Boma this past trip due to a stomach flu but we were able to get a meal in at The Tusker House for lunch and it was by far one of the best meals we had all week. From what I understand they are pretty similar so i would ask if you wanted to be in the park or go cehck out AKL

We have been to both...and I have to say the food is comparable but there is more variety at Boma! Plus the zebra domes! And the atmosphere at the resort can't be beat!

I have eaten at both and even though they were both very delicious, I liked Boma better. There was a bigger selection and I loved walking around AKL before dinner.

If you're looking for "magical" then I'd expose them to the lodge (AKL)--maybe have a drink at Victoria Falls.

We've eaten at both and far prefer Boma. I liked Tusker House a lot, but, Boma is just too good to be missed--in our opinion.

The other thing to think about is timing. AK closes at 5 pm most of the year. On its longer nights it stays open until 6 and, only rarely during EMH, 8pm.

What time do you wish to eat? You can easily leave AK at closing (at 5 or 6) and then have a nice meal at AKL. Whereas, Tusker House would mean a lunch or eating on an earlier schedule.

I agree with Boma. I haven't eaten at Tusker House since it was converted from a counter service eatery so I can't compare the two on food, but you can't get much more magical than a visit to the AKL. A friend and I first visited here during out last trip because we had an ADR at Boma and we both fell head over heels in love with the resort. The buffet could have ended up feeding up cafeteria food and we would still would have considered the trip still worth it we were so enchanted with it. The food was excellent, though I think we were both less impressed with the dessert selection (zebra domes aside). The entrees were good enough that it didn't really matter much. It was definitely a good choice.

We've eaten at both, and Boma is by far better than Tusker House. We tried Tusker House for both breakfast and dinner and just were not that impressed. Boma's food and atmosphere was much better!!

Another vote for BOMA. Eating there is a great pleasure and the zebra domes are pure heaven to eat.

tusker house is pretty darn good... I would consider it Boma light... not as many choices, but all the best ones.
