Absolutely. Lots of viewing locations, balconies etc. You just can't see them from Boma, it faces the pool.

We have dined at Boma many times without staying there and always go out to see the animals. we usually first will wander out to the viewing areas near the pools to see the flamingoes and maybe some giraffe or zebra. Once we are done in that area, we go back in the building and make our way over to Arusha Rock and wander out there to see what we can find (typically the pink backed pelicans, zebras, giraffes, and other hoofstock type creatures. Depending on the reservation time, you may want to go before dinner when it is still light. Although after dark, you may be able to use the night vision goggles to see them.

Theres a bunch a viewing spots right there in the lobby if you walk out to Arusha Rock they have Cast members giving out Binoculars to see the wildlife. We have stayed there a bunch of times but when we didnt my kids would ask if we could go look at he animals there

Yes, get to AKL a little early so you can have a look around - it's a beautiful place! There are absolutely animal viewing locations and, as noted, they are open to everybody. I did that when I ate at Sanaa, though that restaurant has glass windows overlooking the animals. I hear Boma is good too - enjoy!

You can absolutely explore! There are several places around the resort. To the left just past check in desk in the lobby is a door to what looks like a library. The balcony in there is next to giraffe feeding area. They sometimes have talk or craft in there as well.
Down the steps and straight out you will see cattle and birds on the left. Check for the hidden Mickeys in the metal railings outside and also one inside the carving of a Giraffe. If it’s after dark the CMs have night vision goggles to share and will tell you about the animals as well as where they are from in Africa. If you exit by Boma and head left you can see more animals and behind the pool are flamingoes.
Enjoy!

Boma has become a must-do for us over our past 6-7 visits. We absolutely love the resort and give ourselves time to admire the lobby, visit the gift shop, and take a little stroll to see the animals. We always pop into the Mara for some zebra domes to enjoy later.

I went to Boma for the first time in close to 20 years last week (at my son's request!) We were on a mission to find the elands, so after dinner we asked around and were told they were more likely to be found up at Kidani, so we took the shuttle up there and lo and behold, we found them! We've stayed at both Jambo House and Kidani over the years, and this visit made me want to stay there again soon!
We really enjoyed the food, too!
