I'd really like to try this place out on our next visit, but my goodness, I hate to have to spend $22 dollars so my 3 and 4 year old can eat mac and cheese. :sad2: Has anyone had any experience with this? Would it be wrong to feed them before hand and just get them a drink and let them color? Is that too tacky? I don't want to be tacky. :confused3

Would they be willing to try some "different" foods while at Boma? I have heard the soups are excellent, and kids are usually pretty good fans of soup.

They eat so well at home, they eat whatever we tell them to, but whenever we take them out anywhere they are too distracted and never eat anything. I will usually get them (4,3, and almost 2) a burger and fries to share and they don't eat it all. I din't understand it. :confused3

I just made ressie for Boma and they told me adults were $24.99 and children were $10.99 for Diner

That's right. But I have a 3 and a 4 year old, so it would be 22 total for both of them. Thank goodness the 2 year old is free. :flower:

A ? do kids get to eat off the buffet or is it just a seperate kids meal thanks

There is an area on the buffet with kid friendly items like mac and cheese, chicken fingers etc. My kids are realatively picky and we all enjoyed Boma very much when we ate there.

$22 is a lot to spend for two little ones who do not eat, but if you think you and the spouse would enjoy it then go for it. I don't think they would let you not pay for the kids, even if you did feed them first, but you could ask.

You are not really spending $22 to feed the kids - you are spending the difference between the cost of the food you would otherwise feed them beforehand and the cost of the Boma buffet. If it's going to cost you $10 for their dinner anyway, your incremental cost is really only $12. From that perspective, it hardly seems enough to worry about.

Also, if your kids are not eating, what are they going to do? Will they really be satisfied coloring while you and your spouse try to eat? I'd take that into consideration when deciding.

My picky 7 yr old (7 at the time) loved it. We've been there 3 times for dinner. My wife and I think the food is amazng and my daughter found enough on the dessert and fruit bar to make up for a main course of boring old mac and cheese. Also, my 1 yr old (again, at the time) at his weight in fruit and stuff from the buffet.

My daughter ate nothing but grapes and strawberries. Not even the mac n cheese or chicken fingers.

And general policy is that everyone pays at a buffet. Occationally people have had luck having meals not show up on the bill if their kids don't eat.

You could check your kids into the kids club at AKL, but it will probably run you more than their meal at Boma.

We took our kids to Boma and they loved it. They enjoyed of course the kids buffet which had mac and cheese, chicken fingers, spaghetti, pizza- and a variety of stuff. They also enjoyed the fruit - the strawberries were delicious. We also insisted that they explore the adult buffet and to try at least a mouthful of one or two of the specialty dishes- surprise, surprise they actually liked it. I don't know that you could feed your kids before hand and then order them a drink. I know my kids would not be patient during that kind of a meal set up and would quickly want to eat- of course they always want to eat! You can try one of the clubhouses for kids but they are likely to be as costly but you can have the added benefit of more time for a leisurely meal. :wave2:

Our then 3yo DS surprised us when he tried Mommy's ginger carrot soup and loved it! Ate two bowls full, plus chicken fingers, and some other tastes from Mommy and Daddy's plates (including desert!)

When we were there, my 4 year old daughter was going through a very bad food stage. Very picky. She essentially was surviving on Kix, Cheerios and pb & j alone. Not any pb&j...the only kind she'd eat is the ones we would make her in the room using the same pb we have at home, the same bread and jelly. It was enough to make me crazy, but we were on vacation, so I just ignored it and traveled around with baggies of kix, cheerios and pb&j. By the end of the week though, we had spent at least $75 if not more on uneaten meals for her. It was very frustrating to sit down and she would not even take a bite. But, like I said, we were on vacation and weren't going to fight about it.

Anyway, I do have a relevant point...we ate at Boma twice (stayed at AKL) and carried our cheerios and pb&j in and kindly explained that she wouldn't touch any of it with a 10 foot pole. If she ate ANYTHING, we would obviously pay for her, but we asked them to please not charge us for her. Sure enough, she ate nothing--we didn't get her her own plate, just offered off of ours--and were not charged for her either time. Had she taken even one bite off of our plates, though, I would have let them know and happily paid.

Hi Mommypoppins...

First of all, adorable kids.

Second, I did this last year with a 2 year old and 4 year old. I can tell you first of all, that the Boma is one of my favorites. Great food! But, I wish I could have left my girls with a babysitter. And believe me, I NEVER like being away from my kids!

It's just a really fun experience trying all sorts of foods. But, the kids really got nothing out of it. The 'kids food' buffet was pushed WAY back in the distant corner, so walking back and forth with their food in hand was not easy. Although we had a PS, we still waited about an hour. The tables were kind of close together, so the highchairs were a pain.

In all, the experience was not fun because of the kids. I did feel guilty about spending the money on the kids. The hardly ate anything. But... It was really great for my husband and I. Again, if we could have made it a date night instead... it would have been wonderful.

I am going to try it again in May for Breakfast. I heard the French Toast is to die for!

Buffets are hard with kids aren't they? You end up not seeing your DH most of the dinner because you have to take turns going up to the bar with the little ones. I don't know how families with more then two do it.

We were are Boma last week and really enjoyed it. I have DD 9 & 3. We (DH and I) really enjoyed our dinner. I would have to rate it one of our best meals at WDW. The noise level was too loud but the food was good.

My girls ate mostly out of the kids sections. I really hate to call it that because it is in the middle of the buffet and looks no different then the other sections. Maybe we should call it the non-adventurous eater section. I saw many adults getting some fries or mac and cheese! BTW the fries were good!

I understand you problem about the price. Maybe you can look at it from a family perspective. Is it worth the total price for your family to go to Boma verus the total price of another restaurant?

My picky 7 year old loved Boma! He tried everything but basically ate from the kids buffet. To feed him from the food court at our hotel wouldn't have paid, he did just fine at Boma.

My kids enjoyed it! One of them is extremely picky. She had pb&j sandwhiches on zebra bread, fufu (mashed sweet potatoes or yams??), she tried samples off our plates (various meats). Just ask a chef...if something is not on the buffet they will make it for you. They have yummy desserts too. Also the kids got to play drums and dance with some nice cast members from Africa while we waited for our table. :rockband: :dancer:

I forgot to tell you in my previous post where I told you about my 4 year old daughter who ate nothing at Boma and we weren't charged for her...we also had our 5 year old son there. He's a really good eater and we more than made our money's worth with him. He loved it. He had stuff from the kids' area, but also lots of soups, salads, fruits, pork tenderloin, desserts and much more. He enjoyed every minute of it. To save ourselves lots of trips back and forth for him, we tried to create lots of choices, sometimes using even two plates for him on one trip...
