Boma or Tusker House?

Anyone been to both and care to compare and contrast the two?

We (I) LOVED Boma two years ago, and I planned on eating there our AK night this next time around. In fact, it is the only restaurant I was planning to repeat. BUT... Now I'm considering Tusker House.

How similar ARE they? (For me - the more, the better!)

We ate at Tusker House one time previously, but it was with a Grand Gathering and it was Family Style -- and that was one of our favorite meals that trip.

Soooo.... what do you think? Thoughts?

I personally love TH. Everyone we know likes going there as well. It is basically a more american-friendly restaurant. It has a lot of the same style that Boma has, but the food is much more accessible to picky eaters or those who don't want to try something "new".

I liked Boma, but didn't fall in love with Boma (but from what I heard, we were there on an off night). I am trying it again for the sake of giving it another chance.

I do'nt know if any of this helped you or not...but if you want to please everyone in your group, I would shoot for TH. But...if you want to be adventurous, then, by all means, do Boma. I do'nt think you could lose either way.

I ate at Boma in 2003, so I am not a lot of help.

If everyone in your party has not seen the AKL...then I would recommend Boma b/c the resort is worth seeing...

On the other hand, if everyone has been there and Tusker House was enjoyed by your family before, then I would stick there just so I didn't have to take a bus to park and then back to my resort.

You may also want to consider dining times and crowds in general. How crowded does TH get? Many people talk about the lines at the buffet at Boma. Also, when is the last seating for dinner at Tusker House....what about Boma, what time would you want to be dining.

Yep, we've all been there before, and I did think it was pretty cool -BUT

That's exactly what I was thinking - the bus ride. We did a late dinner at Boma last time so that we could stay at AK until park closing.

SO if we choose TH instead, I wonder what would be a good time to go?

Yes, good things to be thinking about.

Anybody have answers?
When is a good time for an ADR at Tusker House on our AK day? What is the last seating, and is that bad to shoot for because that's what EVERYONE is thinking?
Then again I'm going in Sept (crowds are low) and AK is an early night - so do I even care if it's a little crowded? IDK - since this will be my first time with a baby. The rest of my kids are VERY good low-maintenance kids. (Hoping the baby will follow suit, LOL.)

That's good to know.
I PERSONALLY love all of the more adventurous items (and LOVE LOVE LOVED Boma) - but the rest of my family may prefer Tusker House offerings.
Hmm...

I think I'm starting to lean toward TH. Maybe just for sake of 1) trying something new and 2) eliminating some travel - much easier to eat in the park if that's a viable option than traveling to another resort and then back to our own resort.
Especially considering we'll have a 16 month old... Yeah I think I'm talking myself into Tusker House, lol...

I do that a lot too. If you think getting to the resort is going to be part of your problem, then stick to TH. We actually have a rule that we have to eat at as many different restaurants as humanly possible each trip, while including our faves.

In September, we ate there at 11am (the first lunch seating) and there were no crowds at all. If you make the reservation right, you can get the Finding Nemo Musical package, so you can get in to see that as well.

OH, I didn't know there was a Finding Nemo Musical package!
That would be GREAT - we didn't see the Nemo Musical last time at all - so it's definitely something we want to do.
Thanks for that tip!
I'm thinking the choice has been made. :thumbsup2

I booked the Nemo package this afternoon!! You have to eat lunch between 1:00 and 1:40pm to get this. I got mine for 1:05 on May 31.
