Hi,

The menus for Boma and Restaurant Marrakesh in Epcot sound great! What are your experiences? For those who have tried both what is your preference and why?

Thanks!!

Hi
Imust say I liked the atmosphere at marrakesh but didn't like the food. This was felt by my mom and dh as well.Boma was better for the food and in a lovely hotel but again compared to some of the others we ate in it was not one of my favorites.I am sure others will have had great experiences at both but each to there own.:lovestruc

Boma is one of our favorite restaurants. It is an excellent buffet and we've always had very good service. Some of the soups and stews are fantastic. We always try to work Boma into our plans.

Marrakesh just isn't our cup of tea. While we love the Morroco counter service restaurant (Tangierine Cafe?), Marrakesh isn't a favorite. We're not crazy about powdered sugar on our lamb and beef.

I would definitely choose Boma.

I love Bomas. We make it a point to go for dinner one night ( I could go every night though ) every trip we go. If you do choose Boma's try their house juice, it's so awesome!

Boma, Boma, Boma.

That's not even a question! The food is excellently prepared. The variety/ opportunities for adventure mean the foodie will have fun with the guy who eats nothing but chicken, potatoes, amd maybe corn.

Hey the deesert bar is not bad either...

Boma or Jiko is how you end AK day in our book! :thumbsup2

Boma, Boma, BOMA!!!

I am an adventurous eater and love ethnic foods. Marrakesh, left me very disappointed. I had the "sampler" thing for dinner.
The portions were small, small, small. What I had was good (except for the chicken, it was so dry...ick) but the price I paid for 2 adults and 1 child was crazy for what I received.....120.00+

Marakesh!

We didn't care for Boma at all.............too many weird things!

Both are good, but different. Marrakesh has a unique feel and the entertainment (belly dancers, musicians) is a neat diversion. Boma can be noisy and busy, but the selections are great.

So, I guess I did not answer your question...

Marrakesh for sure!! It is a must do on each trip for us. It is a beautiful restaurant with warn, friendly servers and good food. We always look forward to this.
I agree, in my opinion, Boma has too many weird foods. Yes I can find something, but it is just not for us. It is also fairly frentic. We save our AKL experience for Jiko.

Boma hands down for food. Great selection since it is a buffet.

Food at Marrekesh was just OK, kind of bland.

I love Boma - ate there twice and think it's great.

We haven't been to Marrakesh yet - and I was wondering if the people who have eaten there can tell me if the music is loud. I'm thinking of trying it, but me and one of my kids don't like loud music - don't want to get in there and then have to bail out.

We enjoyed both. Both have great atmosphere. You hardly think you're in the middle of an amusement park!
My personal guess is that many women question the belly dancing before they go, but it is very family friendly. The little girl at the table next to us actually stood on her chair and danced too. It was very cute. We've also had rather good service there both times. The best menu item, IMO, is the beef roll appetizer. I forget what they are called, butthey have seasoned meat on the inside and cinnamon on the outside. They are a little like beef taquitos, in that they have meat inside a fried pastry. But the meat is seasoned differently, and the cinnamon/sugar on the outside is a really nice contrast to the savory meat inside.

The bread was really good too. Another dish I liked was the vegetable stew over cous cous. Cous cous is a very small kind of noodle. They are cooked witha small amount of butter - a la rice - but not enough to make the noodles greasy. The stew has all kinds of root veggies in it - carrots, turnips, etc. Good and hearty!

I also really like Boma. I've read some mixed reviews on the DIS, but this place gets packed. What I like best is that many places at WDW lack fresh fruit and good veggies. Boma has creative presentations of both - as well as plain fresh fruit. The strawberries, melon, grapes, all look so colorful on the buffet together! There are some starches on this buffet - but they are limited and interesting. Too often buffets offer only 50 different kinds of boring greasy starch - not Boma. Instead there are colorful fresh salads - not the classic American ones, but interesting ones. There are also four kinds of soup, carved beef, salmon, and more. If you are strictly looking to go for carved beef, you'll find better elsewhere. If you like fresh alternatives, you'll probably enjoy it.

The hard part of Boma is the transportation. If you go by Disney transport - your best bet is to go directly from a park. After dinner, you'll either have to transfer or spring for a cab. If you can hop on a bus to Epcot or MGM, then it's not so bad to get back to most resorts - but if you have to go allthe way to DTD or MK, it can take a while - unless you are ther during a vacation week and can hop back into MK for one more ride after dinner. - or you have the option of taking your own car.

I've eaten at both, and prefer Boma. Restaurant Marrakesh was fine, but I'm in no hurry to return asap. My family is NOT into buffets at all, but we love Boma. I am a vegetarian and Boma is one of the few restaurants at WDW where I don't feel like my eating options are severely limited. Plus they have fresh cut pineapple and strawberries that actually taste like strawberries! My dad, who will eat anything, really enjoys the prime rib at the carving station. My mom is allergic to wheat/gluten and soy, so the chefs always talk to her and prepare a special meal in addition to the buffet for no extra cost.

My parents and I are pretty adventurous eaters, but I don't really think that the food at Boma is too adventurous - just a little different than what is available elsewhere at WDW!

We have been to both many times. I would say at this point I would pick BOMA over Marrakesh. We do like the food at Marrakesh but over the last few years we have noticed the serving size go down considerably. Both have very unique flavors. We enjoy the appetizers and desserts at Marrakesh... but BOMA has a little bit of everything. Don't let the names of the food scare you.... the soups are fabulous... the desserts are just okay as compared with Marrakesh. Marrakesh also has the belly dancer that the men in my family really enjoy..lol... honestly I would suggest both...BOMA has the meat and potatoes I love, the seafood my son loves, the veggie dishes my daughter loves, and my husband isn't picky so he will eat anything!!

We ate at both on our last trip in December. It was just myself and my 10 yr old son. Might i say my picky son....................I had no trouble with him at the Buffet at Boma. He found several things he liked. At Marakesh it was a lot harder to please him. I think he ended up with chicken strips. So from a childs point of view...............BOMA!!

Boma over Marrakesh any day or night!

We have eaten at Boma several times and for breakfasts also and had great meals there. We ate at Marrakesh one time this past December and most of the meal was an argument with the manager. I would not return there again after the way we were so poorly treated.

We also found the music at Marrakesh way to loud to talk over and the dancer was on the floor for a very short time in comparison to the length of the show.
It was a big disappointment for a TS dinner.

We've eaten at and actually enjoyed both, but Boma is more of a must-do for us. We really loved the food, atmosphere and vibe of the buffet, and were able to get into a lot of the food.

Marrakesh is a lot of fun, and we really liked the food as well. One of my favorite desserts is there (bastilla), so while we may not do this place every trip, I do have very fond memories.

Have fun!!!
