I have a ressie for Ohana for dinner and have heard some good and not so good reviews. I was able to get a ressie for Boma for the same night at the same time, so which one should I choose and why? I would appreciate your thoughts/reasons! I am traveling with DH and 3 boys 10, 5, and 5.

Boma is very unique food--you have to be an adventurous eater.
My DS didn't like it at all and he eats well but doesn't like
foods that are exotic with different spices than he's used to.
It all depends on the type of foods you like.

Based on what I've heard, Ohana is at he bottom of the barrel. They have live "entertainment" there, but I wouldn't want to eat lousy food for the mediocre entertainment -- but that's me. Unless your kids are picky eaters, your family would probably enjoy Boma more.

I would eat at Ohana. It was very good, especially the dessert. I didn't care too much for Boma, the food was a little too different for my taste.

Ohana is a fixed menu. No one orders, food is brought to your table in courses. If you want more of anything, just ask. Go look at the menu and see if those are things your family would like. Ohana is a nice place to see and hear the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom if your table is in view. It also has the very best dessert in all of WDW...

Boma is amazing. The smell alone will entice you. As different as many of the foods are, there are some great foods that are also familiar. Kids will love the Zebra Dome desserts. The meats are fabulous, and the soup and salad selections are unique and incredibly flavorful. They are not too spicy, even though they may smell like it. It's like a buffet, so if you get something you don't like, you can always go get something else. The selections change daily, Monday and Thursday are the same, Tuesday and Friday are the same, Wednesday and Saturday are the same, and Sunday is Chef's choice.

Hard choice between the 2. Good luck!

I actually have ADRs for both w/ my three kids. I have heard great things about both, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

This board is a blessing and a curse! :) I have been reading all of the reviews people have posted about Ohana's and Boma and I am so torn. I now am questioning Yak and Yeti and thinking that maybe I should cancel that for dinner and use a quick service for there. (I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they also offer a quick service menu.) Then I could go to both Boma and Ohana (if I am able to move one of my ADR) ugh...

Definitely Boma, service was great. Food was different but fun to try. Great service

Ohana wasn't nearly as exciting as I had hoped, Our servers were horrible. Very stingy with the meat portion of the meal. Some was dry too.

Ohana hands down. Boma is very good and if option C was "both" I would do that but Ohana is an unique experience, is on the monorail, and overlooks the seven seas lagoon and castle.

In my experience, bad reviews of Ohana are usually comparing it to what it used to be. Some of the menu choices are for the worse but what it is now is still very good.

The kids will like Ohana. Unless they are into food they may not be impressed with Boma. Also getting to a non-monorail resort can add some overhead if you are not already staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Boma is my favorite restaurant at WDW. They have very healthy choices which, for me, is my first priority when eating. They have very unique dishes but have enough choices for picky eaters too. When I eat there the 2 main dishes have been salmon and prime rib, which are both pretty safe for everyone. They also have an amazing dessert table and their press pot is the best coffee on property IMO.

While I have never done the O’hana dinner I have looked at that choices. They seem less adventurous but also more limited.

As with most restaurant questions you will get opinions from both sides so I would take the plusses and minuses from us and then check out the menus on allears.net or wdwinfo.com and make a decision based on your tastes.

We like Ohana...especially if you love grill meat. We also enjoyed all the side dishes that came with the meal. Since, we were a group of older kids and adults...we came for the food and not the entertainment. Watching the fireworks was also nice. Service for us was great...no problem at all.

BOMA hands down! The foods is awesome. I didn't think it was that exotic that you were afraid to eat anything. :confused3 They have wonderful soups, various salads, prime rib :goodvibes chicken, salmon, various sides items. They of course have childrens food too such as mac and cheese, chicken fingers etc. The atmosphere is great, the food is awesome and in my opinion it doesn't have the hokey entertainment like Ohana has. Ohana is good but it doesn't compare to Boma.

Have Fun.

I would go for Boma as well. We had their breakfast buffet on Sunday which was phenomenal (my son ate just about everything - he bagged the quinoa which I thought was excellent). We were staying at the AKL and I STILL couldn't get ressies for dinner!!! The cooking aromas alone are so enticing. And the atmosphere at the lodge is so relaxing. We ate at O'hana's a few years ago and even back then it ranked only a "meh".

I almost cancelled my reservation for 'Ohana because of all the bad reviews. It turned out to be my favorite meal there. I didn't like everything (dumplings), but there was so much to choose from. I thought the bread, salad, noodles, shrimp and turkey were excellent. I don't eat pork, so I didn't try that. My son loved all the meat. Our servers just kept coming. We never had to look for anyone. Add to that the MK fireworks and it was my favorite meal. I am so glad I didn't cancel.

I would go with Ohana. My hubby and I loved it. We ate at Boma and although there were lots of choices, the choices were not so good. We did not like it there, the food to us did not taste too good, very different. The zebra domes are not good either.

I was able to make reservations for BOTH today so we guess I will see for ourselves. I love hearing everyone's opinions and can't wait to try both restaurants. I had to cancel Yak and Yeti, but we will eat at the counter service while we are there. We are also scheduled to go back again 12/09 for 7 nights at Fort Wilderness campground, so we can try/go back to place then!

I have been to both several times, and I love both. My family really enjoyed both meals so much. Ohana definitely is a meat-lovers meal. Boma is more diverse, but has enough choice for even picky eaters. I would honestly pick the one closest to the park you are visiting that day. Because as far as food goes, you can't go wrong with either.
