I have been wanting to spend some time at AKL and just enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.I have made an Advanced Reservation for my July trip at Boma so that I will be sure to fit AKL into my schedule.I have never eaten at Boma. What are some "don't miss" items on the buffet? Thanks. :)

The hostess will give you the rundown on what not to miss. We were there last Sunday and were told the menu changes constantly. The soups are great and I tried a sample of each of the desserts which were great.

Make sure you try the different stews and vegetables on the buffet. They sound unusual, but they taste yummy. :)

The best part of Boma is the dessert bar, especially the Zebra Domes and the pineapple cheesecake.

Oh, you're eating at our very favorite place. And I'm someone who hates buffets...I prefer to think of Bomas as "an experience". Make sure, as the other poster said, to try a bit of several of the soups. I can't believe how delicious they all taste. And they have wonderful, tasty salads (the only one we don't care for is the watermelon rind and I know others love it) especially the. I believe the name of the dish is "fu-fu" that I really like. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's some kind of squash. We were there in April and I had a salmon in coconut curry and it was fantastic! Hope you have a great time...and don't forget to leave room for the zebra domes!

We ate at Bomas May 17th for the same reasons you stated. My wife enjoyed it but I was not impressed. I did try just ablout all on the menu but just did not care for many of the selections. It is a nice restaurants, just not my taste thats all. As I stated my wife liked it and others have raved about it. It is most certainly worth a try. I am glad I tried it but will probably not go back..smjj

It's all good! Go when you are really hungry and try to taste a little of everything. Just make sure you leave a little extra room for dessert!

...and they have never steered us wrong! As the others have stated, some of the soups are to die for :goodvibes . The salads are unusual in a very good way. I am not a big meat eater, but the salmon and flank steak have been good (the entrees are on a rotating schedule, not always the same).
I always, always save room for a Zebra Dome, as these are heaven on earth! Have fun at Boma :teeth: (and make sure you're really hungry when you go).

According to the CM I had on my first visit to Boma (we now do it every trip . . .. ok multiple times every trip). It is not set up like a buffet. The different stations (dessert, salads, soups, meats, sides, etc) are grazing stations. The philosophy works well at Boma. Try (graze) on a little bit of everything. Then head in for your favorites. There are things there that by their name I'd never try but have really enjoyed.

With all that said. Save room for the desserts. In fact just plan to camp out next to the dessert station.

DH and I ate at Boma for the first time last Friday. It was wonderful and will add it to our list of must do restaurants. I'd love to narrow it down for you but you really have to try everything with a special emphasis on the soups and salads.

I agree to the above - try a little of everything. It does change often but there are certain things that seem to always be there. I recommend the soups (esp. the coconut curry ones), FuFu is fantastic (sweet potato based), and the desserts are to die for. I know Zebra Domes seem to be the favorite, but I'll throw my two cents in for the Banana Bread Pudding with vanilla sauce. I actually got the recipe and made it for a dinner party - it was a HUGE hit. No matter what you eat, you'll love it though.

I love the carrot ginger soup! The falafel and hummus selections are also at the top of my list! I can't wait to go back in July!!!

Is there any way to take home leftovers from Boma? I know its buffet, and I don't plan to stuff some of everything in a baggie, I just wondered if we all tried a dessert and couldn't finish, would they let us take it with us? Or is that strictly taboo???

There really wouldn't be any dessert that you couldn't finish. They're designed to allow you to sample everything - the biggest size dessert would be maybe a brownie size. Most of the things (like the Zebra Domes, Fruit tarts, etc) are two or three bite-sized. Actually the cookies are probably some of the biggest dessert, and they're just cookies - there are better options.

I just ate at Boma two weeks ago. My favorite was the Coconut Curry Chicken Soup. I wish I could eat at Boma every day just for that soup. The Zebra Dome for dessert was also wonderful, but it was slightly edged out of #1 by the tiramisu.

Yum. I was lucky enough to have two sets of people visiting from out of state last week. So we took them each to Boma. Two times in a week. It's a great place to go twice in a week though, because there are three rotating menus. The soups are my favorite. My two favorites, Ginger Carrot is on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Muligatawny is on Mondays and Thursdays. I also love the falafel, and the potatoes with afritude. Definately follow the advice of others and try a bite of everything! :flower:

My favorite place to eat is Boma, I wish they would bring it to Disneyland! I ate there on a Tuesday a couple weeks ago. My favorite was the Bobotie, Potatoes with Afritude, the Coconut Curried Seafood Stew and the Salmon with BBQ sauce. Overall it was all yummy, even my 4 year old commented on how delicious everything was. The desserts were the best part, I'm a bread pudding fan too. My server told us at the beginning of the meal what the best offerings were and that I could request recipes and they would be sent to me via email.

Incredible experience! :earsboy:

DS and I absolutely love Boma's

We were there Thursday night and had the best server, John.

Don't miss items, well let's see.

Any soup, watermellon rind salad, the carving station, the whole spice chicken, zebra domes, banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce.

We took some cookies with us as thay are really the only thing that will travel and John brought us some paper napkins to wrap then up in.

Sample everything, while it may not be for everyone, there is just sooo much good food there, it's a shame not to try everything.

I wish they would have the ginger carrot soup on Thursday's as that is usually the night we go when I'm in FL.

Boma has a rotating menu? I didn't know that. Do they rotate the soup selection? My brother is visiting in July and I want to take him to Boma, but I don't want to go if they are not going to be serving my favorite soup (the coconut curry chicken). Does anyone know if there are any days when this soup isn't served?
