Boma. A few questions and observations.

We just experienced Boma for Breakfast for the first time last month and I had a few observations and questions.

I thought the food was as good as advertised but the layout of the buffet was a bit odd. There was one long line at the beginning of the buffet where people were waiting to get their plates that extended well into the restaurant. Because of the positioning of this line, waitstaff, bus people and customers returning to their tables were continuously having to cut in and out through the line. I also noticed that for the second half of the buffet people would just go up and grab whatever they wanted without waiting in the line. Is that normal procedure for Boma?

I'd like to return for Dinner in February but was wondering if I should expect more of the same or if it's a bit more organized and less frenetic?

Thanks!

Boma has traditionally been arranged in “pods” and you can begin at any of them - with plates at each station. Not sure if they have changed it or if a bunch of people just thought they had to start at the “beginning” and everyone followed them.

Aah. Good to know. It was our first time and our server never informed us how things operated. We just assumed we had to wait at the beginning of the Carving Station line like everyone else was. Never occurred to me to head to another section of the buffet.

Thanks for the answers!

As others noted, it is not one long line, but several separate areas. You can jump from one part to the next with no concerns.

Our server has always reminded us that there are separate sections and just go to the section you want and serve yourself. The only 'line' that does seem to form is for the meats section. I have no qualms going to any of the other sections without standing in that line.

We experienced the same thing every time. I know we usually go in order for the first pass to get a little of everything that looks good and later just got for the things we want more of. I don't think the long line at the beginning ever died down so we just sucked it up and waited. Regardless of that we love Boma breakfast and do it for nearly every trip.

Yes, you're supposed to just go up to the pod where you want food. But I have often seen people form lines at the carving station. Someone even made a rude comment to my daughter about "cutting" in line because she skipped the carving station and went straight for the pasta.

There you have it (there isn't one big line). Do not be intimidated about going to the station that interests you most and digging in... that's why plates are situated around the buffet (not just at the carving station). I often begin with soup... Why, you can even begin with dessert if you wish!
