BOG walk up when and how?

I will be in magic kingdom next Wednesday (6/12) just for the day. I have been able to get crystal palace breakfast and CRT lunch with only 3 weeks notice (I live on the ADR website) so I am thrilled, and would love to get BOG dinner but I have not seen one opening on the online system for this since I started trying. I think my best option may be to try a walk up, but I have never tried this before.

When is the best time to try and get a walk up reservation? Should I try right when the park opens up? Do they book reservations first thing in the morning? Should I wait until closer to dinner time? Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We walked up about 8:00 at night and had about a 20 minute wait (they quoted 45 minutes though). At Christmas time, we had reservations, but people were doing walk ups with about 45 minute waits at about 6:00. They don't seem to make reservations in the morning, but some resorts do offer FPs for lunch.

If I do a walk up at BOG and the wait is one or two hours, will the host stand give me a pager so I can go do something other than stand around?

I was told yesterday (by Disney CM) that they are holding some tables for walk-ups, and that you should check around 3:30 or 4:00 to see what will be available. Hope this is helpful.

The range for the pager isn't that far and there's no way of knowing for certain how long the wait will be. What they tell you is an estimate. If you decide to go on another ride and you're paged while you're out of range, they will probably assume you got tired of waiting and left.
