BOG nonsense

I agree with the BOG website glitches. They seem to be having many and various problems with it. My issue is that I set my mom up with s Disney account so I could get that 12 digit number and when I enter the user name and password in the BOG website that I just created it brings up my information, not my mother's. I spent a while on the phone with IT and they couldn't fix it. The person I spoke with was very nice and apologetic. He put notes in that I couldn't reserve the fastpass and the CM at BOG should let my mom and nephew eat with us. I'll be really upset if they don't let them. A lot of work just to eat at a restaurant. I hope it's worth it!

I'm just amazed at the hoops guests are required to jump through to dine at BOG. Again, this requires a lot of tribal knowledge.
I have an ongoing list of changing passwords and 3 e-mail accounts. I have enough trouble maintaining all of this without creating a new e-mail account to make an ADR. I know people are willing to do all of these things, but for me it's just not worth it. It's a lot like the whole MDE experience, it's too much work for too little return.

Doesn't the fastpass+ system use a ticket as the Primary Key? Whoever sent out the the BOG offer, probably Dining, never had and never will have access to access FP+ databases. They probably got your email from an outside vendor. The FP+/MDE people will never have access to the mailing list/database.

It's the management that has no idea how to use their system(s). They need to stop allowing the use of lists that haven't been mined for current MDE users.

I think we can say this in general now for a Disney World vacation. The amount of logging in, planning, picking, choosing, etc has gotten completely out of hand.

Someone should have reassured Tim by now that this isn't really his vacation, it's only a test.

According to the fairly extensive BOG lunch threads on the restaurants board, there is, in fact, no support for the BOG reservation system. Obviously somebody somewhere works on this thing, but a guest has no way to get connected with them. Apparently previous reservations sometimes (always?) interfere with one's ability to book a new reservation and the only way to fix it yourself is to sign in with a new email address. I would ordinarily suggest as other PP's did, to get another CM, but I think in this case, it's an exercise in futility.

all true, no one you can call for help.

This is the main BOG FP+ thread on the Restaurant Board with a fairly detailed FAQ on page 1. Check it out if you are staying on site and can't book the FP+, lots of tips

Agreed. I remember when folks just stalked ADRs. Now you stalk ADRs and FPs. And sometimes you can't even get enough for your whole group. And everyone has to be linked to someone's MDE account.

I have this vision of hordes of people walking around WDW with their electronics trying to get a wifi signal to see if something has "opened up."

This is NOT guaranteed. It didn't work for me until 17 days out.

This! We have never had luck until about the 21 day mark. It is not hard and fast. I also go to the middle of our stay. We have gotten them every time for the last 5 trips onsite, but never before 18-20 days out.

Tim, you may want to revisit some of your more recent posts chastising others for posting about their negative experiences.

This is exactly what it's like. People, with their heads buried in their cell phone, bump into you all the time. Ad in 3000 extra bodies, per day in MK, that Iger reported in March, you end up with parks way over packed.

Parks don't become pleasant by over stuffing them. They are pleasant because of the sense of space.

Yeah, we saw a lot of that during our trip (October 12-24). I call them Smartphone Zombies.
But it's a disease afflicting the whole society, not just theme parks. Unfortunately, Disney welcomed it, instead of trying to keep it out.

Thankfully, we still managed to have a great trip.

Again let me restate and clarify my position.
Chastise is a pretty strong word.
I believe people have legitimate reasons to dislike the new system…

As far as my overall opinion about the FP/MDE/MB new wave goes .. let me explain. I have visited WDW twice with the new system. BOTH times in the very off season. First time last year there were glitches. Rolled with them. This time in September didn't need them as everything was a walk on.
I can certainly see how repeat WDWers who are locked into busy times don't care for the system. I have no judgement there. My only grip is that it shouldn't ruin your experience. WDW is fun. FP or not. The right attitude and vibration makes a difference. Thats all I'm trying to state in my posts in support of and in deference to those on these boards who are strongly unhappy with how this system has affected their touring style.

This is what I truly resent. I don't want to walk around the parks dodging zombies who are buried in their phones, it was bad enough without the added distraction! On top of that, I don't want to become a smartphone zombie, I know people will say you don't have to, but if you want to ride popular attractions you need to use the system. A smartphone is needed to receive e-mail updates form MDE while you're in the parks.

so true, vacation used to be a time to turn off your phones and other electronics and concentrate on time together as a family; not anymore.

went too a weekend birthday party for my niece the other week and 1/2 the people were on their phones. Thinking to myself "really you need to be on your phone at a 4 year old's birthday party?" I thought it was pretty rude but that's me.

We don't own a smartphone. I made advance FP+ reservations on my creaky old PC at home. Once, I made changes to some reservations on my girlfriend's tablet PC in the hotel. The wifi worked well. A couple times, we used the FP+ kiosks.

And that was it. Minimal IT use for us. Maybe we could have "optimized" the trip a little more with a smartphone. At least we didn't have our faces buried in those tiny screens, so that we could spend more time looking at the beauty and fun which surrounded us.

Sign of the times. Sad, just sad.
