I know Disney food prices are higher then normal but I can't believe they are charging $17 for a roast beef sandwich and fries for lunch. Is there anything special about this sandwich? Is it worth it?

I am surprised that you are surprised. You have posted frequently before about recent trips.
It is not special. It is Disney. It is what it is.

You're paying more for the experience than you are for the food. Back when the sandwiches were hot, it was great. I really enjoyed it. But if the food is all cold now, it's definitely not worth it. I just switched my reservation to breakfast.

...I am amused that you're saying breakfast IS worth it.

It's definitely not. But I'd rather start the day with something small (since my trip is for my best friend who has never been to Disney) and then skip over to Epcot for Dapper Days rather than waiting around for my lunch reservation. I mean, at this point, BOG is only good for its theming. I know a lot of people like the dinner there. But I'd rather eat at other places on property.

Is this new pricing? Forgive me if asking an obvious question, but we haven't eaten there for lunch since last May. I just feel like I would have remembered paying $17 for a sandwich and fries. (Especially because I'm Canadian and that $17 would be almost $23 for me.. which is even more ridiculous.)

I've finally faced reality about BOG. What was once, just few short years ago, the best QS in all of wdw, both for quality and cost, is now one of the worst. When it first opened, the braised pork was under $10, and it was very good quality. The non stop demand means they can keep the prices high and the quality low and people will still fight to get in.

Doesn't mean I'll stop going. I love the place, and for me it's an attraction, but I think we'll stick to mid-afternoon cupcakes from now on.

Yeah, I hear you! Last time we went DS9 and I both got the salad nicoise. Our bill was more than some of the TS lunches we had on our trip.

My first experience with BoG was dinner and I enjoyed it very much.

Next trip I tried lunch and had the now cold roast beef. Was not worth $17 at all. I would not want to eat it again even if it was under $10. Taste was ok at best. Mostly bread. The ketchup on the plate was even cold. Probably because it is pre-portioned and plated. I also ordered a soup because I really enjoyed that with my original dinner and that was still great. The amount I paid could have been a table service meal. If you want the experience, and have the determination to look for a dinner ADR, I personally think it was a better value. Plus you can get a picture with the Beast!

I was amused by the way they referred to my $14 toasted ham and cheese sandwich as a croque monsieur. This was in 2015, mind you.

The theming was cool but even in the smaller room, it's a giant crowded noisy cafeteria hall with constant bussing carts. That bustle clashed with the "atmosphere".

Looking forward to slightly more reasonable prices at Universal next month.

I'm not happy that they are now serving it cold but I will say that I love the roast beef sandwich at BOG.
I find BOG lunch to be well worth the QS dining credit when on the dining plan and even when I'm not on the dining plan I find it worth it to go because I love the atmosphere and the strawberry cream cheese cupcake is to die for!
I've been 7 times and I'll be going again in April.
I'll pay inflated prices for Disney food before I'll pay the same inflated price for a crappy Subway sub at my local amusement park.

I'd say if you're on the dining plan then the atmosphere totally makes it worthwhile. Oop however it's hard to justify.

The OP was discussing the price versus value not the ambiance.

The roast beef sandwich is cold? Ugh! That is the only thing on the menu that my 17 year old will eat. I have been before for breakfast. My daughter and I shared and it was worth it for us. But I know my husband and two teenage boys will not appreciate the atmosphere. I may just cancel our reservation and eat at Cosmic Ray's, they love that place. :)
