Bobs Discount Furniture

I've been looking for those North Carolina outlets on-llne for ages. Do you have any names you wouldn't mind sharing?

I'm not the pp but I have ordered from NC dealers in the past. Unfortunately I don't remember their names (it was 3 different companies). The best thing to do is just google NC furniture dealers. Call a few different ones, I found some could not get me the furniture I wanted for less than I could buy it here. I was able to find some places that had the same (manufacturer and model#) for half of what it was at a local dealer. With freight shipping I still have saved 100's of dollars on each piece I have purchased.

I bought a futon from them- it fell apart within a tear.

I bought a couch- It was OK, but one of the arm rests collapsed when my roommates BF leaned on it.

I have a mattress- it's like sleeping in a hammock.

I will no longer buy from Bob's. :mic:

Exactly, you get what you pay for. Bob's doesn't sell qualilty furniture at cheap prices, they sell cheap furniture.

Exactly! I think they may be one step up form IKEA though- that to me is the bottom line of furniture- but its still cheap furniture. They are not selling you good furniture at a cheap price, they are selling exactly what you are paying for.

We have a dining room table and 8 chairs we got about 5 years ago from Bobs and everyone loves the set. It is really tall- DH is 6'4 and when we saw the table we bought it on the spot! He can actually fit at the table without banging his legs. The chairs are like pub chairs-pretty tall. It has a butterfly leaf and can seat 8 when it is folded out. Great for holidays and game nights. That table is SO heavy! I think it cost $499 with all the chairs.

I've never heard of the place but wanted to warn you if you're considering Raymour & Flannigan's.. DD's MIL bought DGD's new bedroom set from them when they first moved in here in 2006 and it was delivered with broken pieces and chips out of the wood.. Customer service was terrible (it was a bunk bed set, dresser, night stand, desk, and chair) and it took close to two months before they repaired/replaced the items in question.. She paid a very hefty price for this set - assuming she would "get what she paid for" - and it has turned out to be junk..

Just keep that in mind while shopping at the "better" stores.. Doesn't necessarily mean that the quality will be better..

Good luck with your shopping! :goodvibes

Has anyone from the east coast of America bought furniture from Bobs Discount Furniture.

A couple of questions:

1. Hows the quality of the items? We bought a sectional couch from them and we love it. The quality is pretty good. We looked around a lot and it doesn't seem to be any more poorly made than the local high end furniture store. We did buy their 5 year warranty program. It seems to cover everything, but we haven't had to use it yet so we'll see how well it works. It was only $99.

2. How good is the delivery(Time, Willing to bend backwards for you)? The store in Manchester NH said they only deliver on Wednesdays. That can be tough, but ours worked out to be the day before Thanksgiving so I was home. Our deliver guys were very nice and friendly! They got there right on time.

3. Are the sales people pushy? We didn't find the sales people pushy at all!

4. Is the furniture great for the discount you are getting?
We think our couch is great for what we paid!

I went in once just to look and found the quality really cheap and the sales people were torture. They just would not leave us alone. I know they are on commission but the lady we had was so pushy we left. I like IKEA it is cheap true but you can get okay furniture and no pushy sales people.

ACK! Now I'm having flashbacks of those awful commercials! When I lived in CT, I couldn't escape them! Come on Down! :crazy2:

We don't have them here in Atlanta. Sorry I can't help.

I went with my sister to buy some stuff there. I can afford better, so I wouldn't buy most of what they have for sale, but for her budget she was able to get a nice looking/comfy livingroom set that she's happy with.

I couldn't get past the obviously glued instead of stitched leather, etc., but if you're young and on a tight budget and not planning to showcase the furniture for the next 20 years, you may find what you want there.

I'd rather buy a quality piece every 4-5 years than furnish a room all at once with less well made stuff, but to each their own.
