Hi All,

We are staying at POR our next visit. ALL the reviews I have read about dinner at Boatwrights have been HORRENDOUS. It would be so convenient to eat there at least one night. Is it really that bad? Any insight would be great!!!

I ate at Boatwright's once while staying at POR for a work convention. While in my opinion the atmosphere of the place is just okay, I really enjoyed the meal I had there. I had the Grilled Tenderloin Medallions and an Abita beer and it was wonderful. I think it compares well to other steak dinners at places like Coral Reef. Now, I would not head over to Boatwright's if I were staying elsewhere...but for being there, I'd recommend it for sure.

We ate there once during our stay at POR last November and we enjoyed it. The service was good and we all loved our food.

I had the prime rib and my husband had the tenderloin.

Would eat there again :thumbsup2

We stayed at POR last fall and on our first night we arrived we were too tired to leave so we just stayed at the resort for dinner. We went to Boatwright's, not expecting much and not too happy about using 1 TS credit to eat there, at what I thought would be a pretty disappointing meal. Well, I have to say it was such a pleasant surprise! It may have been one of the best dinners we had all week. The food was great and the service was quick and friendly. I'd definitely go back if we ever stay at POR again. :goodvibes

Oh My! These reviews have been different from what I have read! Thanks to all for taking time to answer me!

We had dinner at Boatwright's in April, 2008 and liked it very much. The menu's changed since then, we had the filet which I think is no longer available. The pecan pie for dessert was yummy! Service was good, atmosphere nice, not too crowded, an overall good dining experience.

Ate there last Sept during FD for the first time. We had a later ADR (@ 8pm). We were off to a rough start when we waited way beyond our time and I was minutes away from walking to the food court to eat when our buzzer went off. Obviously it was a very busy night, it was FD, but I was still not happy at that point. (I was traveling with my disabled adult son and hard to keep him waiting that long).

I have to say our meal was one of the very best we had in 10 days on the dining plan and I am SO glad we waited it out. Our server, who had to have been exhausted, was so nice, attentive and kind to my son. I had the Grilled Tenderloin with Crayfish and it was excellent. We are returning this fall, and it was one of the first places I booked.

The decor is understated but nice and for once I didn't feel like I was eating on top of the people next to us. I would not hesitate to give it a thumbs up :thumbsup2

We ate there when we stayed at POR and really enjoyed it. Atmosphere, food, and service were all very good.

There are enough TS places at DW that are just as good, so I wouldn't go all the way to POR just to eat there. But, if we stay at POR again, I would definitely eat there again!

The food is edible for the most part but when compaired to other options at WDW it is subpar with the other restaurants at best. It is pretty convenient if you are staying there, but so is DTD (just a boat ride away). I would look into the restaurants there first and if nothing really seemed appealing then Boatwrights is an ok fall back.

If we were staying there, we would definitely eat there for more than one meal. I've read the bad reviews, but we've always had good meals there. Nothing earth shattering but good food and adequate service. It's sometimes been a fallback for us when we have no ADR.

We had an excellent meal at Boatwrights in May and would not hesitate to go back. They were more crowded than expected (it seemed) due to a storm that popped up and I think kept some people from wanting to leave the resort so we had to wait a little past our ADR (made that morning at the concierge desk) and I know our server had many tables all to himself, but not once did he make us feel rushed or did he act distracted - he was attentive and friendly and very helpful. The managers were going around helping out where they could. The food was very good and different from the normal WDW fare. I've never had honey mustard mashed sweet potatoes anywhere else in my life. It was one of the better overall experiences I think we've had at WDW - not the best, and I wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there if not staying at POR, but we will happily go back next time we stay at POR (which is our favorite moderate).

I too have to agree we just returned last Thursday 8/6/10 and we did go to Boatwrights and the whole table of 7 got the prime rib dinner and we all agreed that is was one of the best meals we had during our 10 day stay, the prime rib was cooked to perfection, service was ok nothing stellar. We all agreed we would go back there next time for the prime rib.

POR is our fav resort.........we have stayed there on 8 or 9 trips and have never been disappointed in Boatwrights. you will be fine.........i am still not over the fact that they dont do breakfast anymore.

We ate there on our last trip as a last minute reservation. Our little girls were too tired to handle our originally scheduled Chef Mickey's (yes, we cancelled Chef Mickey's :scared1:) and this was one of the places we could get last minute so we decided to try it. It ended up being perfect for us. It was not very crowded and was pretty quiet. Both girls had fallen asleep and they allowed us to have a corner table so we could park the stroller and not disturb them. We had an absolutely wonderful meal. The service was excellent and our food was delicious. My hubby had the tenderloins and I had the pasta with shrimp, with pecan pie and apple pie for dessert. We loved all parts of our meal, and they packed up our girls' meals for us to go, including a special birthday dessert. They also tied balloons on our stroller for each of them. We had a great experience and would not hesitate to go back; in fact, it was the one place my hubby requested for our next trip.

My sister was there with her family in April. They were on the dp and had 7 different TS dinners, boatwrights was one of them. She said they all loved their meals and really enjoyed eating there. They were not disappointed at all. Linda

I wouldn't say Boatwright's was bad, I just didn't think it was particularly good.

It certainly isn't, in my opinion, worth a visit if you're not already at Port Orleans. If you are staying at Port Orleans, it's an acceptable option if you don't want to leave the resort, but really, there are simply much better choices out there.

I am looking forward to it when we go in Sept. I want to spend one day half in the park and the late afternoon and evening at the hotel letting the kids use the pool for a while.

We loved Boatwright's!! It ended up being one of our fave meals on a trip that included CRT, CM, CP, & WCC.

Perfectly said. I think we hit an "off night" as far as the food was concerned (mediocre at best, and I had to return mine to be prepared the way I requested it). We were more disappointed in the service and the fact that it was very loud because of the piano bar on one side and the food court on the other (plus we waited 45 minutes past our ADR for our table). If you are at the PO, it is a convenient place to eat; but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there if I wasn't staying there.
