Looking to stay at the Wilderness Lodge in January. Are the boats enclosed? Will it be cold waiting for the boats and in the boats?

We were at Fort Wilderness in January this year and yes there were some cold rides on the boat. The boats are mostly enclosed however if you choose, you can sit outside in the front or the back. The weather can vary so much in Florida during the winter that you could have hot or cold. The first part of the trip we were in the pools and wearing shorts. But several days later a cold front came in and we were in sweats, gloves and hats. You just never know.

It can be chilly waiting for the boat because you are standing on a pier that is projected out in the water so the winds can sometimes get ya. Just make sure that you take all kinds of clothes, especially for the ride back in the evening.

Last Yr we were there in January and the boat to the Contemporary is an open boat there is no going inside. We were so cold, it was one of the coldest nights they had in a long time. The wind was blowing so hard the CM had trouble docking the boat. We had been to Dinner at Chef Mickeys and we were catching the boat back to the FW Cabins. The boat that only goes to the resorts is open, the boat to MK has an inside area.
