Boat ride from DHS to Epcot?

Hello,
I'm curious, on average, how long is the boat ride from DHS to Epcot? We are thinking about taking a midday break on our DHS day to cruise over to Epcot and relax a little :boat:, grab food and come back. Is there usually a long line or times of the day that are worse to do this?
thanks!

I think the lines depend on the time of day. We went from Epcot to DHS on the evening, but this was right after the 5 pm candlelight processional got out, so it was a bit busier. The ride also stops at BWI, BC/YC, and Swan/Dolphin before getting to Epcot. It took about 20 mins once you got going. You could walk from DHS to Epcot too, but I have never done the walk.

The boat is not the most efficient way to get there, but it's my favorite. We usually get off at Boardwalk and stroll the rest of the way because we love that walk. It took a total of about 30 minutes to get from the Hollywood exit to the International Gateway using this method on Easter Sunday last year right around 2pm.

The boat captain said it's approximately 30 minutes once the boat gets underway, but it depends on how long it takes at each stop (DHS-->Swan & Dolphin-->BC/YC-->BW-->Epcot). You also need to add in time if you just miss the boat and have to wait for the next one (about 15 min). Many get off at the BC/YC stop and walk to Epcot to save some time. You can also walk from DHS to Epcot (1.15 mlies) on the path adjacent to the waterway.

Midday the boat usually isn't very busy. It's most crowded after Fantasmic or IllumiNations ends and when the park is closing.

thank you all very much! I hadn't even taken into account there being other stops along the way. Something to consider for sure and we may want to get off and walk or walk the whole thing. It is something we've never done before and wanted to try. Thanks again!

Once on the boat, the actual ride is about 25 mins. I have left the dock area, at Epxot, at the same time the boat left. We beat the boat to DHS by about 8 mins! The boat was coming around the bend as we got to bag check! It normally takes about 20 mins to walk....I walk fairly quickly so do it in less time.
When the boat leaves DHS, it foes to the S/D, then YC/BC, BW, and finally Epcot. It's the reverse going back to DHS.

As other posters have indicated, the boat leaves DHS and stops first at the Swan & Dolphin followed by the Yacht & Beach Club, and then the Boardwalk prior to heading to Epcot. Therefore, getting off at the Boardwalk doesn't make sense. Better to get off at the Yacht & Beach Club and take the shortest walk to Epcot rather than staying on the boat an extra 5-10 minutes while it 'backtracks' to the Boardwalk where you will then have a longer walk to Epcot.
