Hi all.

I know where the boat launch is at Contemporary but can someone describe how far or how to get from the boat launch at Fort Wilderness to the Mickey's BYBBQ show location.

I looked at google maps and it looks really far from the Fort Wilderness boat launch to the actual Ft. Wilderness Lodge (assuming that is where MYBBQ is). Am I looking at the right thing? Is it really not walkable distance? ---- Google Maps Directions is telling me it is 5 minutes driving and 30 minutes walking!

Is the boat launch at FWL to go back to CR the same as the launch area to go back to MK?

THANKS!!

The boat from the CR makes stops at both FW & WL. The BBQ is at FW. It is a short walk from the FE dock to the BBQ.

we take the boat from MK to Ft Wilderness and it is a hike back into the BBQ:surfweb:

Just so you know the bbq is at fort wilderness campground. Wilderness lodge is a separate resort that is near fort wilderness but its not the same property.

Sorry but can someone take a look at the google maps link above and confirm if that route is indeed the ferry dock at FW to the MBYBBQ location? That is a 30 min walking distance which is what freaked me out.

I am aware that WL is different from FW, that wasn't my question (I think using "FWL" was confusing people, I meant to say "FW").

I'm specifically asking the dock at FW (where the boat from CR stops) and it's distance to the MBYBBQ.

If that distance is correct, it makes no sense why I would want to choose a boat route, which is why I wanted to confirm.

Thanks.

The dock where the boat from MK to Ft Wilderness stops, is that the same dock where the boat from CR to Ft Wilderness stops? If yes, how bad is the "hike" you are referring to?

I'm just trying to have a better idea.

The map is showing you the mailing address for FW, not where the BBQ is. The BBQ is very close to the dock, just behind Pioneer Hall. Zoom the map in on the dock area, the BBQ is at the pavilion.

Thanks!!!!! That is such a relief!!!! :cool1:

I see the pioneer hall, that is very convenient!

Now that I'm zoomed in, going off topic, is there really a petting zoo near pioneer hall? that would be nice to visit.

No the petting zoo closed a few years ago, but I think there are still animal pens around.

One other point for anyone else that reads this, if you take a park bus (Epcot, DHS or AK) to FW you will be dropped off at "B" on the map and have to take a short internal bus ride to the Pioneer Hall area.

Bummer about the petting zoo.

And thanks for clarifying the bus stop location. I'm glad I asked because for me, the boat is definitely the better option now that I know the show is not a point B.

Thank you all.

But you can go to the stables which are near where the petting zoo was. The work horses from WDW are housed there! You may get the see the white ponies that pull Cinderella's Carriage!! It's interesting back there...Take a walk over, it's not far...Maybe 6 or 7 minutes...

thx for that tip. we will try to check it out if we get there too early.

There are pony rides for the children where the petting area used to be....you walk with your child around the paths...
